Ok, I’ve got a .22 mag that I need to put a scope on, Bushnell offered a 30-50% off retail discount since there’s no parts available to put mine back together lol....

Anyone have any experience with the bushnell 3-9x40 scopes?

Any recommendations for any vortex line as well....

I'd suggest a Vortex Crossfire II in 3-9x40. It's a base grade Vortex that is more than capable for a .22 mag and, like all other Vortex products, carries one of the best warranties in the biz. If you had a Vortex scope hit the pavement and get banged up they'd just replace it, no questions asked. For that kind of gun I don't think you're going to gain anything by stepping up to higher end models.

Problem I had looking for that scope was finding one without the BDC. That was the scope I was looking for when I ended up buying the 44. I wanted it for the ML, single reticle for the kids, less choices. I wouldn’t want a BDC for squirrel hunting.

Jim, I was leaning towards the crossfire, but bushnell offered the discount had me wondering what about their line? Crossfire is leading the pack as of now.

See, to me, that right there is all the motivation I need to buy Vortex glass. "Oh hey, sorry we can't fix your scope because it's old, but how about we give you a discount for a new one that's more expensive than that old I've ever was?" That shit won't happen with Vortex. No questions asked... Lifetime.

Quick Google search and it was the third link down the page. $150 with Amazon prime.

You can get the Crossfire II in three different reticle variations. Cabela's usually only carries the BDC but there's plenty other places to order from.

I didn’t have time to order one at the time. I screwed up and couldn’t find one in the area in stock. I also don’t like ordering things like this online. I enjoy the gun shop environment way to much...

I totally get that. I really miss the local gun shops. It was always such a great atmosphere. Used to be a shop in New Washington I really liked... Old man in there that ran it had an English bulldog that just hung out. Old hardwood floors that creaked like the hardware stores used to. Awesome place.

The smell of the gun oil in the air...hard to not smile just thinking about it.

Buy the Bushnell at the discount, sell it for a tad under retail on eBay, and buy a vortex. Buy the vortex first though😂

I haven't ran any cheaper Busnells for a few years now besides the TRS red dot, which is great.

Fun fact....many of the guys from Bushnell left and formed Athlon.

The problem with putting a fixed parallax scope on a .22 is the parallax is set for 100 yards. If you need that much zoom power on a .22 an adjustable objective is almost a must. The problem being most .22 shots are 10 to 25 yards. If you turned it up to 9x at that range your picture will be pretty blury. The nikon efr 3x9 ao or weaver rv9 ao or for the high end luopold efr vx2 3x9 would be the best fit. I tried to make do with a burris fullfield 2 on my savage and can not stand it.

I just bought a Vortex 1x23 Muzzle Loader Scope for 60.00 free ship on ebay. Put it on my pellet gun.

nailed it, but it really depends on what you are planning to do with it. if it is to shoot squirrels, AO is practically a must, and a very fine duplex reticle is also most helpful. I have a Nikon EFR 3-9x40 and it has a fine reticle, and this is an excellent rifle scope for the money, imo. I have a Leupold VX2 6-18x40 AO on my 10/22. I prefer 12x for squirrels.

From a “big picture” company perspective you can’t go wrong with Vortex. Their products are top notch, their service is second to none and the people who work there are just awesome.

Beener always spoke highly of them (Vortex) as well, that always stuck with me.

Jim, I’m about to pull the trigger on one here shortly lol....

The only sidetrack was the 30-50% off another Bushnell, but it didn’t last long lol...
