Maitake Hen of the Woods

Has anybody seen any yet? It's about that time. I know we have all been busy with the chanterelles , myself included. My only good hen spot is about an hour away but it's a killer on the right year. Last year was terrible for me. There were only a few & I was a bit late. Year before was a bonanza. I'm betting it is going to be a good season for them. I need to have my timing right though.

Boss was up north in Michigan last week and said he seen some up there. Did see a fresh bloom of chickens today.

I have not ever seen any before middle of September here in central Ohio, but I do not have any honey holes for Maitakes, either. I have to search and get lucky.

I had my last gastrointestinal surgery September 12 last year. The day before my buddy found a crapload of them in his woods up here in Hancock County. I'd never seen them around here before October. I'll be looking next weekend
