So, would you rather know a deer that size was in the area, or see him for 30 seconds before shooting? Rather have 30 seconds or 3 minutes?

I'm astonished a buck like that was in our area. Thats like 2 miles from me and even closer to adam

It was out by KFC and the woods back there are city limits and a lot of swamp back there as well. Need to start shed hunting back there I guess. Iknow they lady who owns the property back there. Was back there years ago and it's nothing but deer highways back there.

I see them back by the old drive in once in a while. I've also seen them in the cemetery on fairview. You would almost consider them "urban deer" if there was such a thing as urban in this little hick town.

Seen them by pizza hut as well. Had a deer run into the door at Duke gas station a week ago. There are more deer in town then where we hunt and as soon as fun season starts there will be more deer in town. Happens every year.

Great question. I would rather be surprised in the stand. Whether 30sec or 3min is the harder question for me to answer. Had less than 30sec last year to see deer, draw, aim, and shoot. Didn't make the best shot. 3min gives more time to think out your shot. Also give more time to get nervous. I would like 30sec I believe. Everything happened in less than 10sec for me last year. Probably less than 5sec. Thankfully my bow was already in my hand.

We talked about that around the fire....I'd rather be surprised and I would have to react. No way I could watch him for long. I'd have fuggen heart failure.

I'd prefer to see him for less than 30 seconds Lol. That's plenty of time to get me shacking! From the time I saw my buck on the hoof this year and me arrowing him, I'd say only 10 seconds passed, not enough time for me to get shook up.

Won't do much good honestly. The city ordinance doesn't allow hunting in city limits. Hell, I can't even shoot my bow inside city limits because of the wording. It considers arrows a projectile the same as a bullet. I'm sure there are stands back there as I have seen them on other city owned properties that are inside city limits. I'm not about to push my luck like those people do. All it takes is 1 phone call to put a dent in your wallet and a damper on hunting for a few years. Might be a great buck and a once in a lifetime but it's not worth that much grief to me.

This is just my opinion, but that deer is more impressive to me than the "other" big buck making news this week. I prefer a massive framed typical with a little junk over a gnarly, tangled mess of a non-typical.

Truly an amazing specimen of a whitetail.

This, but i would still love to take a big non typical. Beautiful animal.
