Decided to hunt around close to home today instead of making the 90 min trek to my farm in SE Ohio. Hit a property about 20 min from the house. The property together is just over 100 acres. There is a 14 acre section I like to hunt that borders county owned land that is no hunting. Got in the stand at 6:15 and sat until 10am........not a deer seen. My buddy was hunting on his property down next to Ceasars Creek Lake and he also did not see a deer.

I finally had some action right at 10:00. I spotted a small 8 point making his way through the tick stuff then all of sudden he put his nose down and took off. He busted up three doe that were above me on the ridge. He chased them a little then a 4 point came in and chased the doe off. The 4 point followed them like a beagle and the 8 went back where he came from.
I drank beer and slept in. Headed out in a few to sit the rest of the day. Probably pointless, but what are you gonna do?!?

Still slow here. Corn is still up around the woods. My 3 cameras are still pulling bucks moving at night and a bunch of lone does.

Just had the same 10 point from a couple weeks ago come through. He layed down 40 yards from me for about 10 minutes. Then he got up and slid diagnal in front of me. Never got a clear shot. It wasn't even 2:00 yet.

One small year and a half year old buck nose to the ground today. Other than that, nothing to speak of. Cancelled my vacation for the next 2 days. Looking to take Friday off and hoping things are more active by then.

Just watched a big body 8 run two does HARD right in front of me for 20 min. So freaking awesome. Never got a shot, but dang... That's why I hunt.

watched a tall racked 6 get blasted by a car on 30 this morning. 2 cars ahead of me. If I wasnt running late already i would have stopped and got him. He was gone by the time i came back through after work.
Had a small 6 pt chasin 2 does in the backyard thismorning, he had his nose to the ground the whole way across the feild.

Seen 11 deer between 3 of us in 1st hour after shooting light. They are on their feet up here in north central Ohio. Get out in the woods!
Had a buck grunting pushing a doe around last night around 5pm. They were raising quite the ruckus, but never got a visual on them. Then the neighbor's son fired up his ATV and decided to do some riding:smiley_cry:

I didn't get out this morning. Woke up feeling like shit for the second time in three days. I work tomorrow, then it's 5 days of all day sits. I'm ready for it!!!

I took the wrong days off this year. Last year I hit it just right (last week of oct and first week of Nov). This year it is later. I only have two more weekends to make it happen so it will practically be just luck if something happens to run by within 40 yards. Still planning on doing an all day sit Saturday
