Where did you get the fuel pump from? I have never had any luck with the fuel pumps from Autozone. The diaphram that is supposed to keep the fuel from leaking back to the tank when the vehicle is off never seems to work. So if the vehicle sits for very long (more than half an hour) it takes 3-4 tries to get the vehicle started. Fuel pump has to prime the lines again.

Is your check engine light on?
If it is O2 sensor you will get a CEL.
If it is crank shaft or cam shaft sensor you should get a CEL.
If you have no CEL then I would lean towards fuel filter or the possibility of a bad fuel pump (not as likely since you have changed it.)

Sorry for the late replay fellas. It ended up being a faulty fuel pump. I got lucky and know A guy really well that works at advance auto. He let me swap em out and she's workin!

Well.. On the way to the stand this am she broke down again..then fired right back up. So dad drove it home and it died on him in the way home, then after it died, once again, it fired right up. I'm seriously lost guys.

My fuel pump. See, we unhooked the first coupling in the fuel line and cranked my motor, and no gas poured out. Well after changing the pump, we did the same test and fuel did come out. So it was either the fuel pump or possibly the relay. And we also replaced the fuel filter. I havnt tried the catalytic converter or anything else yet tho. And I think if it was a vaccume line my truck would run like shit..when it does run.

Talked to a mechanic friend. He said if you roll up a paper towel or napkin and put it in someones fuel tank, it will eventually clog up the line and shut it off.....Then the "backwash" in the line will move the item and it will fire back up until the "Clog" is randomly created again. Just a stab in the dark, but that is what he said.

Check that fuel pump relay.... I still say it's gotta be that..... It's a power problem too that pump and the relay controls that.....

Had the exact thing happen to my 94 chevy. fuel pump went out over the summer. My guy put a new one in and all was fine until I changed the muffler on it. Then it ran like crap just like yours did.My guy who is really good dropped the tank and put in another fuel pump (warranty) but still ran bad. finally he checked the converter and it was done for. He switched it out plus the co2 sensor and it ran fine for about 4 days then it started to do it all over again. we were stumped. finally I put new wires cap and rotor on it. The cap had corrosion on all the contacts. Now she purrs like a kitten.

They weren't fly by wire were they? Any vacuum leak should throw a CEL. Have it scanned to see if any codes are buried. Have you hooked up a fuel pressure gauge yet? You may have injector issues. A cheap try could be a couple bottles of injector cleaner, or you could flat out have some bad dying, some completely dead injectors.
