Absolutely. Before long you will not even be able to find a seed that does not have a patent on it and you don't pay through the nose for. It's crazy to think that we allow private corporations to gain a monopoly on the seed that grows our food. Holdback seed to plant next year has all but been eliminated. Even if you wanted to you can't do it. If Your neighbor planted Roundup ready corn next to your field and his corn Inadvertently pollinates your corn, you cannot hold back that corn to replant. Patent infringement and Monsanto is going to sue your ass.

I can certainly see how a farmer could say that. But remember last year all the guys that planted early and then got flooded and frosted out? The good ole boys that plant on the same day granddaddy planted, they were just fine. I don't see the point in finishing corn before November - you're only going to pay more in propane or gas at the dryer.
That said, saw some corn in Eastern PA this past weekend that was easily 6 feet tall and in beautiful shape!

With our power outage forecasted being off for 36 hours I had to take yesterday afternoon off and head to Lowes to buy an unexpected generator.
We did throw everything away in our refrigerator but were able to save the contents in my 3 freezers.
I ended up buying a Generac GP5500 at $ 649.00 and a 100 foot 10 gauge extension cord for $ 139.00. I did buy a 4 year extended warranty plan for another $ 140.00.
So at the end of the day I spent $ 1,000 to save $ 1,000 worth of food. A guess you call that break even.

That would run about $ 8k with a cement pad and propane tank. It's part of my long term plan but the deck comes first, pole barn will probably be next, then concrete, then generator. I need about $ 50k to finish my projects.
