Trying to help a friend (girl) out whose buying her dad an electric razor for Christmas.

What brand do you use, and what's a fair price?

[I have a Phillips Norelco basic model but got that as a Christmas gift from my dad a few years ago so I don't know anything]

Thanks - a few quick replies would be helpful.

I have used both Braun and Panasonic. Both worked well. My panasonic is at least 5 years old and still going. Need to replace the blades and foil now and then, but the unit and the battery are still going strong.

I like the foil shavers over the rotary disc type. I think my panasonic was around $250, but again it has lasted over 5 years,

Dang. I spend $450-500 on razors in that time. You have a tough beard or a ladies man beard Scott? I have toothpick sized facial hairs, so I need a Sthil 028 to trim my shit! LOL! Seriously though, if this works on tough beards, I might look into one...

I would consider my beard/facial hair to be fairly coarse. I have to shave everyday....well I may cheat a little on the weekends. I love mine.

Dry your razor when your done. They will last 4x longer. Just tap it on a towel a couple times. Water is the number 1 enemy to a blades edge.

I've tried a few electric razors in my day, but every one of them has ripped me a new asshole... the next day I wind up with the worst breakout of ingrown hairs ever! My mom even bought me a $150 Braun one year from Christmas, out of the goodness of her heart. Unfortunately I had to donate that one to the father in law. No more electrics for me... just Fusion Pro Glides from now on.

Did a little checking once I was home. Mine is a Panasonic ES8095. They have come out with many new models over the last few years. I had great luck with mine and all of my skin is still intact.

Hope that helps Cap't.
