Late season help

Thanks guys. I think I have a damn good chance with this one and the weather is looking perfect. I picked up 100 pounds of corn but I haven't put it out yet and I may not. I'm hunting a fence line that seems to be on a trail that these deer not only use often but they are extremely comfortable on.

If your getting that close to these deer without corn then I wouldn't put any out. If you dumped that 100# it may make that buck wait until dark TOO come eat at the pile. With only a short amount of time left in the season you don't want too make him skittish over corn. Just hunt where they normally feed or trails leading too where they feed.

I went out this morning, no luck. Tonight I went out at about 3:30 and man was it cold. I had to take a leak and shivering from the cold but tried too sit until dark. At 5:30 the neighbor decided to fire up his monster truck with a squeaky belt and rev it up to keep it running lol. Nice timing bud. I gave up when he did that and at 6:01 there was a big set of antlers in my back yard. Probably best cause it was too dark to shoot and I think he would've busted me. Will be back out tomorrow of course. On a side note I'm gonna try to get my buck before gun season next year because this SUCKS! rotflmao

I'm actually having fun with the late season thing- it's just been really cold on a few of these hunts. Good luck to you too, 11 days left!

I'm gambling now and I hope it doesn't screw me. Out of the blue last night I got up, got my gear on and dumped 50 pounds of corn on the other side of my fence line. The deer have been sort of using this as their staging area so I know they'll find the corn right away. I know it might freak them out but as cold as it's going to be I'm hoping that buck will slip up and go in for a snack before dark. The spot I've been hunting I think they will either cross this area on their normal route and ignore the corn giving me a 40 yard shot or they will come to the corn and give me a 20 yard shot. Another advantage is I can see this area from my window. If there are deer there I can sneak up on them from the tree line, especially with this nice fluffy snow on the ground. If nothing else the corn will help them get through the winter.

Good luck in these remaining cold days. I'm sure if you don't freeze you will be remembered for your cold weather trying.
Damn it's cold out there.

Thought I was going to get skunked tonight. Right before dark a small buck and 3 doe came by in a hurry. I thought the buck was a doe at first, little 4 point. Had a shot but not at the one I'm after.
