TOO Weight Loss - Biggest Loser Edition

Dont know how many of you have undiagnosed sleep apnea, but getting that problem fixed is an easy way to cut 10-15 lbs. If you snore and are over weight, chances are good you have obstructive sleep apnea. Go to your doc, get a sleep study set up and see wha tthe results are. Not only is sleep apnea bad for your weight, it is terrible for your heart. Oftne times people over look the simple things. Getting a cpap machine for nighttime use can dramatically help your overall moral and health.

When I was racing compeptively nationally I had a personal trainer. I went to the gym 3 days a week and ran everyday. I ate like a horse, although when you brun a lot of calories, you can eat about as much as you want, like TF said. At this stage in the game my knees and ankles are junk, so running is just flat out painful. THe new craze is bicyles. I am purchasing a new bike for the summer. I am gonna buy a Scott speedster, its a roadbike. In the summer I ride 30 miles 3 or 4 times a week. Bicyles are great form of exercise, and easy on your joints. Although, you have to push, you cant just coast every where!

i love mountian biking and would love to get back into it

Ran 15 minutes during practice tonight. Downloaded an iPhone app that can sense your movement and calculates that against your height, age, and weight and gives you an idea of calories burnt. It said I burnt 150 which I think is lame considering I used to burn 450-500 per 30 minutes on a treadmill (according to it's calculations).

Getting ready to do Biggest Loser on the wii again.

Yea, I was on the treadmill tonight and burned about 300 in 25 minutes. I think that's fairly typical for he pace I was running. Was 180.5 lbs when I finished.

Keep it up guys! I won't start for another week and a half until I get back to school.

Another thing to keep in mind - drink lots of water!

Just finished BL on the wii. That manly bitch kicked my ass again, but I still finished. I seriously may puke soon - of course the big dip I put in immediately after my workout probably isn't helping. I figured out this evening what is killing me (besides being obese), it's the fucking yoga they work into the routine. Yoga wasn't meant for fat guys, especially those of my stature. Yoga was meant for skinny soccer moms who drink ice capps and drive small sporty SUVs. Fugg yoga.

Btw, down 8 lbs as of this am (which is my pre-Christmas break weight)

This whole post is hilarious. thanks for sharing JJ. I am rooting for you. You have a lovely wife and great kids as a motivation factor for you. I may be a scrawny puke, but I am actually thinking about getting in a bit better cardio shape as well. My Dad had a quadruple bypass at 59 and I don't want to be in those shoes. The heart is a muscle. Work it and it gets stronger. Don't work it and it allow your cardio to lax or your weight to take a toll and you are definitely not doing your heart any favors whenever you need it to pick up the pace for you. My goal is simply to create a stronger heart which has a quicker recovery time whenever I do strenuous activity. I do believe getting in shape has nothing to do with weight. It has nothing to do with the number on the scale either. When you work out you turn the fat into muscle which weighs more than fat. Sometimes you will gain weight but you will feel better and you will see the difference in your body. For the guys looking to lose 10-20lbs, you might want to take measurements because although the scale may say you are not losing what you want to, your body might just be repositioning your weight. Good luck to all of you!

1 lawn a week with a grass whip should work wonders for your cardio..... You can thank me later. :) lol

Yeah, Okay Joe. Fugg that. I would rather go shed hunting or something. lol I actually felt I was in decent shape carrying the LW sticks/Millenium stand in and out every hunt this year and climbing the trees. Starting to lose it a bit now. Haven't humped enough 80lb salt bags this winter to stay fit.

I'd like to tone up a bit. I'm 5'8", 190lbs. I don't mind weighing that, but I need to get back into shape. I'm starting to run 3-4 times a week, and I'm wanting to start lifting again. Gotta get a good workout for the upper body, especially my shoulders, or else I may not be playing baseball this year. I'm also trying to watch how much I eat, cutting back on the size of the meal, but trying to get my metabolism back up. Working alternating shift work is hard on a body.

Yesterdays work out.

25 pull ups
1.50 mile run
lat pull downs, abs, tricep extensions with barbels, then front squats
walk on tred mill for 5 minutes
Row's, tricep push downs, leg extensions

Todays work out.

Dumb bell shoulder presses then shrugs
2.5 mile run
Lateral raises and bar bell shrugs
2.3 mile run
Frontal barbell raises and shrugs

Dude, when I was doing the P90X, the yoga was killer. That crap made me so sore. I used muscles I never knew I had..Rediculous.

The wife and I are starting the gym on Monday.

I am ready to do this, I am tired of feeling likea slob all the time.

Copy that. I didn't bother going this week because of the bowl games and the weekend festivites. I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off to hunt with Tracie and we plan to go both days for some cardio. I'm focusing my efforts in January on bettering my eating habits (which we started with a healthy trip to Krogers this week) and cardio. The only real work out I am doing it 25 push-ups a night with the Perfect Pushup to work on my shoulders; stretching every morning; and doing some shoulder workouts with the Power Tower. Those will be daily, then I'm going to do cardio at the gym 3 days a week and play basketball every Thursday. If want to lose 10 pounds in January before I start lifting again...

When bend over tying your shoes and you notice yourself holding your breathe....well it is time to shed some wieght. I can tell the difference of the 11 punds I gained back.

Phil is right on about fitness level not being a number. I carry weight better than most and feel quite comfortable at 210-220 pounds. At 269 pounds I looked like I weighed about 235 to most people. When I dropped 30+ pounds you could hardly tell. The only way I could was that my pants were a bit looser.

Off to the gym,
