The entire, endless and frequent discussions on this subject are a waste of time, energy and bandwidth. The State doesn't give the furry crack of a rats ass how we feel and never will until we present a unified voice ala the farm and insurance lobbies and I do not see that happening, ever.

But until then

And all we will end up with is

Carry on
I don't disagree on the time and energy statement. But for bandwidth we have unlimited inbound and 5Tb outbound a month. Thats 5,120 gb outbound. The horse on the other hand is looking a little pulverized, he may not last lol.

Who said the knowledge is locked up? So if people aren't a member of a forum they must be antisocial and introverted? Yea, some people hold their cards close to their chest, but not everyone.

Are the poll results from 2011 not skewed due the the member base at that time????

I really don't understand why anyone has such a hard time believing that we are not the cream of the crop, aka the BEST of the BEST. Yea yea yea we plant food plots and run cameras and scout our asses off and buy the best gear we can afford.... So what? That's all status quo for modern deer hunters nowadays.
Have you not seen any of these deer hunting Facebook groups?

Yes, and they kill just as many or more deer as we do. Intellectually, they seem to be way behind us at TOO. But from an effectiveness standpoint, I don't see much difference.

There's no shortage of corn-piling TOO members, Chad. And I've seen plenty of big deer posted all over those Facebook pages. I don't have anything against piling corn. Just saying, they do it and so do we. Same same.

So in your opinion, what does it take to be the cream of the crop?

You must live in a cave in Namibia cut off from all forms of communication only emerging once a year from your solitude to smite the largest animal in all the land before shrinking back to become the thing of legends

I think we all know the qualities those type of outdoorsmen and women possess. Maybe you misunderstood me. I'm not saying there aren't cream of the crop individuals on TOO. There are quite a few. But as a whole, especially during the months of October and November, we aren't much different than all those Facebook groups you mentioned. And yet, despite that, we still manage to load the site up with countless harvest pics and great stories. Which is why I laugh when someone complains about mismanagement and not having enough deer in a county that kills 3000-4000 deer every year.... Which was my original post in this thread before all the cream-of-the-crop butthurt began.

When a guy grows up in a county that killed way more than 3-4k before tonk came along and is left with what they have now I can see why there's some saltyness. When the land can support the number of deer that we had years ago then the whole reducing the herd size for antler growth and overall health doesn't fly with me.

Two words...George Tinkham
Two words.... False Equivalence.

You're aserting that George was unsuccessful due to a lack of knowledge. The reality is he could have a whole host of reasons. To include self imposed limitations or handicaps that made his personal chance of success far lower. One prominent trait that comes to mind is lack of selfishness.

Two more words.... Fallacious Quantification

A one man example hardly proves that such logic can be applied across the entire spectrum of everyone that visits online forums.

This is total bullshit and you know it! That man doesn't measure success by antlers. He truly loves every part of it and the killing is a part he dislikes. He is a much better outdoorsman then you will ever be! A man that I enjoy listening to around the campfire. That man helped me kill my first deer and many others. I know for a fact, I'm not the only person he has done this for either. Just because it wasn't his tag, doesn't make him not successful. He is one of the most unselfish people I've ever met.

You should be ashamed to even throw another mans full name out like that on a public forum. I suggest a proper "slamming your dick in the door" for punishment.

About success. Success is in the eye of the beholder. We all measure success differently.
