My Bow Exploded. Don't know what I should hope for from PSE

Been shooting the same PSE Xforce Drive for 5 years. Got glasses a month ago and brought it to the store to readjust the peep and draw length to fix my shot. The bow had not been feeling right for a few weeks.

We decided my peep needed to move up and to reduce the draw length 1/2". When I drew it back, something felt horrible. We realized the cam was leaning like crazy and shortening the draw length had had made me start to pull over the cable stop. Thankfully it had popped back over.

We called PSE to ask them for a warranty limb replacement to fix the extreme can lean. They said no, try all of these things. The bow shop said that's a horrible idea. Because PSE was so hard pressing, we put the draw length back to where it was before and I tried to shoot again.

Naturally, I drew straight the the back wall, it got stuck and I yelled for help. Bow shop employees came running up and my bow shattered. Pieces flew everywhere, my wrist got pretty messed up by the string and one of the employees got nailed in the hand pretty good.

The first call to PSE after that I was told that a string derailment would not be covered by them. My second call was answered was answered by the guy I'd talked to before the explosion and he immediately recognized the implications and gave me a return number and we got it shipped.

I don't know what to expect. I don't know what I should hope for. I'm disappointed in PSE and am hoping they will make this right. Me and that guy could have been seriously injured.

I'd be hesitant to balme PSE considering the issue started when your bow shop started making adjustments. I do not trust most archery shops with my gear for this very reason. Having said that, it is a Parts Scattered Everywhere bow. Good luck!

Agreed. If someone handed me back a bow that was fine before I gave it to them and then it exploded I would be questioning how they pressed it and what they did.

To you and Brock. I get what you're saying, I heavily researched the bow shops before picking one(just moved to Portland for an internship). I watched everything they did, all they did was move the peep up an inch and move the draw length pin one notch forward. Both of them were very knowledgeable and had been working on bows for longer than I've been alive. They did not touch anything that could have affected the cable stop or cam lean. The reason I never pulled past before is because I am not someone who presses hard against the cable stop, when it happened I drew harder than usual because I was watching the string and the cam and it popped straight over. I just need something to hunt with and my college budget did not account for my bow shattering. I wish I could work on my bow on my own but I don't know anyone in Oregon with a bow press or the knowledge base to help me. All I know is my bow about took my arm off, I don't have anything to hunt with now, I can't afford a new bow, and bow hunting is what I live for.

PSE, in my opinion, pushes the limits engineering wise and material capabilities. I don’t trust them personally. You have a 50/50 shot on them replacing it. I would prepare for a fight but that shop should be your advocate. I also don’t trust bowtech either for their lack of standing behind their product. Good luck to you.

I have been in your shoes but dealt with a different company. I hope you took a ton of pictures for reference. Parker treated me exceptionally well and fixed the bow ASAP... problem was it exploded again. They bent over backwards for me and gave me any bow that I wanted for free. I also got about $400 worth of free stuff for my troubles. I hope your experience turns out the same or better... keep us posted.

Just get the bow back to them and be patient. You probably wont get a free bow but you should get a helluva discount.Back in the beginning of time,I bought a browning tracker,my first, and last compound.had it 2 yrs and the limb snapped.Sent it back and Browning gave my choice of any bow they made for something like 30 bucks. I chose their top of the line recurve and still shoot it.Be patient be polite, tell them what you think should happen,be willing to deal.Good Luck
