Says it's supposed to quit @1:00 for a couple of hours.

Temp is 39 degrees, which still pretty cool.

I'm staying nice & dry still.

Haven't seen nothing but squirrels.

Waiting for much the same as the rest of you guys, rain to stop and the deer start moving.

Almost noon sharp and right when the rain quit, I watched this beautiful mature buck get up within the CRP field, due Northeast of me at approximately 100 yards away.

After he shook off the rain, he casually started heading further Northeast grazing some, but mainly sniffing the air coming from the Northeast.

I tried to get his attention by a couple of grunt calls. He stopped hard and looked attentively my way for about a minute.

Then he continued his slow marched towards area where I had my last big buck encounter on a 'spot-n-stalk' hunt.

I tried again to get him to come my way, but this time I tried a couple of doe bleats and once again, he stopped hard and looked my direction.

It was apparent that he purposely wanted to head to the top of the CRP field.

So, I quickly jumped out of my 'Body Heater Suite', grabbed my binos, grunt call, rangfinder and bow - climbed down and headed his direction to try to cut him off on the North Eastern side of the CRP field.

Once I got in that immediate area and got to the highest point, I glassed for him and load & behold, he began chasing a doe over the top of the hill heading further North away from me by 100 yards or better.

Fugg!!!

He never did see me though.

Maybe they'll be back.

Another closey and another let down...

Anyways, I'm back in my 'Eastern Stand' for the remainder of the day.

Wildlife, you are a hunting machine. Hope you get a shot soon because you earned it.

Thanks, I think...

It is what it is these days for me.

The terrain that I hunt currently is far more difficult & challenging for me getting after these more mature bucks than the ones of my past.

Keeps me in shape that's forsure.

I'm having a blast though!!!

I knew today's ideal conditions was perfect to catch a bigger buck bedded within the CRP.

I'm pretty sure it was this guy that I seen.
Same area, just a different day.
