Alex, I know you've used the drone to promote your business. Were you aware that you must be an FAA licensed commercial pilot to use a drone in the "furtherance" of a business? Been talking to a local drone pilot that uses it for business and he was telling me this. We used a drone we own to take pics of the campus and according to him, we're in violation of FAA regulations because the guy flying the drone/taking pics is not licensed and we used those to "further" our "business". I smell special interest lobby all over that.

Is that send them $50 and they issue you a certificate? Or is there actually a course that needs complied with ?

Indeed he is correct. The problem is enforcement requires local law enforcement to contact the local FAA operations center who then will contact the operator, so far they mostly give you a warning and request that you complete the training and get a license. I don't think anyone but the rather large offenses like flying in to commercial airspace or over a stadium have ever been fined.

Also... Currently the use of drones in relation to deer and other wildlife is somewhat "open to interpretation" regarding the OAC. I don't think it's wise to start or add to a thread about using drones for deer.. Let's not give anyone a reason to add more clarification to the laws. Asking for a friend. 😉

Honestly, I know drone enforcement regulation/law is on the rise. I have a buddy that is a private contractor for wright pat air force base that works on drone tech, radar and keeps me updated . As far as I'm concerned I'm using it for recreation use on public and or private property I have permission to. Business or not. I get warnings that let me know I'm flying in a air space and it won't allow me to fly a certain height or near a restricted air space, I abide by all. Pretty serious tech

Fair statement. I've road scouted elk and whitetail in SE Kentucky. It can be done in those mountains. It can certainly be done in the hills of Ohio.
You must have a set of thermal binos then. Cant see in the woods more than 25 yards now. Road scouting my 900 acres would tell you not to hunt there bahahaha. It's ok though. I'll just use my trail cams. No thermal needed

900 acres? The struggle is real, just not for you.

Y’all scout this early? No need to scout, put mineral stations out w a cam and get all the intel you need as for inventory.

If your hunting public it’s either where the funnels are, transitions, escape routes, bedding areas, feed trees or what is planted on private bordering it. Easy Peasy.
