Got the sight tape on today and shot some out to 90 yards.

Real impressive for 90 yards! Takes many hours of practice, bow tinkering and great form to do that. I’d say you’re more than ready. Good luck!😊

Thanks. I've tinkerd and retinkered this bow to death over the past month. Got to be over 500 shots by now. Soon I'll start practicing holding back for longer and longer times then settling to make the shot. I think that's going to be pretty critical if the time comes.

#SoundsLogical2Me. I've been watching an unnatural amount of western archery hunting lately, 70 yards to them is another day at the office.
Same with caribou hunts. 70 yards is a chip shot...get laughed at kind of thing if you miss.

I have a couple of buddies that consistently kill black tails between 70-100 yards. Multiple a year. That’s a small target...they say it makes the caribou seem easy. 😂

I keep saying I’m gonna get a crossbow and build a 700 grain bolt to compete with that. But I’ve never needed to take a far shot here in Ohio.

Anyways, looks like you’re on track and have plenty of time to build them muscles up.

You start cardio with a pack yet?

You start cardio with a pack

I plan to keep my day pack pretty light, water, food, essentials. I have been doing some cardio in the event that running is involved but I'm not worried about terrain as its pretty flat. I mean you can make it suck if you want to start bombing off in canyons, and I may if that's where a big one wants to hole up. It's Arizona so you can't go three miles from a forest service road without hitting another one. The unit covers 1100 square miles so I'm going to keep a spike camp kit in the truck. That way if I find myself a long ways from base camp down a FS Road and want to be back early in the morning I don't have to make the drive.

I wasn’t even thinking about your day pack...I was thinking more about your meat pack. Speaking of which, I’ve got one if you want to borrow it. I don’t use it much anymore😂.

Unless it's a wilderness area you're allowed to go offroad to retrieve an elk. If a packout is required it'll be a short distance to get it to an area where I can get a quad. Now that I say that watch one run off and die in some nasty shithole with a 3,000 foot vertical ascent out. 😅

We have packs. I've already been informed by the rest of the camp who are all in their late 50s that if I need one they'll be at the top with refreshments, cool towels, and words of encouragement. 😅😅

Blahahaha! You are so fucked...everyone’s elk will find a hole like no ones ever seen before! You gonna die boy...

I've got the number to a couple of local packers with mules. Quarter, hang, grab the coordinates, and make a phone call. 😏
