I’ve had to change the pump in my tank and the high pressure pump on the rail. 99 7.3

You had me second guessing for a moment so I had to pull out the Haynes Repair Manual for Ford Super Duty F-250 & F-350 Pick-ups/1999 thru 2002 Gasoline and diesel engines

Here's what I have for a fuel pump and how to replace it.

Below is a Youtube video of a F-450 that has a different fuel tank than mine. My fuel tank is before the axle along the driver side frame underneath the bed of the truck. However, the fuel tank filter screen system & fuel level sending unit is similar.

I've had to replace my tank straps on my pick-up about a year or so ago. At that time, I popped that unit out to make sure the screens looked okay inside of my fuel tank and it was.

The following video, if you care to see for yourself, has a different lining in it than what mine was. The lining in mine is a think plastic that showed no signs of flaking.

So to confirm, I just have a single inline fuel pump along the frame, a fuel level sending unit and fuel screen system in the tank.

Now I can go to bed & sleep easy

I start to have issues when ever I get below half a tank.

Working so many hours away from home, my policy is that I always have to have enough gas to get back home under any circumstances. Ever since 9-11 in fact. I use to be bad about stopping the pump on zeros. These days not so bad. It’s more like “Ok. Just gimme that klunk sound of the pump shutting off so I know I have a full tank for my time spent standing here”

Hell that is what the gauge is for, most modern gas gauges are calibrated so even if the miles to empty gets to 0, they still have a gallon or so in the tank.

I run it to it shows empty all the time. I had getting gas.

Sorry Clay, we can no longer hang out and be friends. “All the time” what happens if you get stuck in traffic or in the mud because you had to avoid an accident?

Almost always 2+ gallons left when I fill up, I do fill up sooner if I am close to Sam’s Club because it is so much cheaper than anything else around here.

I run mine until the light comes on. I am on a tight budget right now so when I do fill up I only put in $30 - $50 TOO get me by for a week. I don't know why I worry about rounding it up, it all comes out in the wash when it's time to pay the credit card.

Still don't know why they will post a price of say $2.49.9 and just say $2.50.

We are $2.58 regular. $3.25 premium. Non-ethanol usually higher yet. Bugs me. We have a refinery in town. Another 40min up the road. Why are our costs higher? Must be all the extra transportation to get it to us.

It's always more expensive around here. Just cruise down S. Main street in Findlay and look at the new Marathon parking garage, hotel, and restaurant and you"ll feel better knowing what it's going towards 😐
