Bedding is pretty well covered. Between hinge cutting years back, blow downs and honey suckle. It also being a creek bottom you can’t see 30’ into it most of the year. Just trying to add something it doesn’t have. For the first time since I’ve moved in there’s a winter wheat field up the road this year. They have killed deer almost weekly off that field for months now.

Imperial makes a mix like that. I’m also thinking it’s cheaper to buy throw and grow than buying ryegrass.

Just go to the local seed mill tell em what you wanna do and where, let them help you. I wouldn't go with any hunting branded seed, you're gonna pay 200% more for what you can get at the mill in a brown paper bag. I'd recommend a soil sample first especially if you're gonna do anything other than clover.

I did that. The 3 girls working the counter had no clue what I was talking about. Told me to come on a day the George was working.

I have been getting seed from Merit lately and it has been good.

They have a bunch of seed mixes. This is the one that I just got. I also recently started putting annual crimson red when I seed as it seems to get a quick start.

I threw it on an old wheeler trail I had. Kinda made a giant Y with it I can watch from the back door.

Put out a new block today at the lick. Put the camera on it about a month ago and the doe have been hitting it regularly.

Well putting the salt block up on a chunk of wood does the trick as it lasted for the whole year. I put the new one out but you can see the old one stil has a little more life.

I also frost seeded the field by the cabin and spread lime on it. Will put some fertilizer on it in the spring.

I got out today.... filled the feeders and pulled the camera cards to see what made it through the season.

decided to add some horizontal cover in a big amphitheater kinda in defilade... cut it yesterday morning,

Made paths and such, about 1/2 of the cuts kept hinges to make forage... the poles were bigger then they look...

So today went and setup a camera mid-day and find...

So ya i'm fairly happy with the results, check the cam in a month or so and see what is happeing.

Freshened up the mineral site over the weekend and did a lot of scouting. Found many trails that we had no idea deer were going through different areas. Weren't there last year anyway.
