Unemployment is a crutch to get u through not to supplement your intire wage. Yea if ur laid off then use it until u can get back to work. With this extra money people with crap jobs or just lazy will do there best to avoid going to work and continue to file until it runs out.....this just freaking happend in the recession but now more insentives to not go back to work.....

Well, another day and another dollar short.

To all the essential workers that are facing the current threat while doing your job, I commend you for your bravery and all your daily efforts in keeping our country going, especially those that are on the front lines in the healthcare industry.

I truly hope to hear more from many of you regarding your experiences/observations while out in the public domain within the communities you travel/work.

Today, I traveled to my local carryout store. According to those working there, business is way down and no one that they know of is currently sick nor has been tested for the coronavirus yet. They volunteered that information; I didn’t have to ask.

Once again, I wish everyone to enjoy your evening as best as you can with your family.

Take care & good night!

US now leads the world in confirmed cases
That is good news. We are testing the most and we are treating the most. That is a really good threshold to cross at this point. It is better to confirm the cases than to have the unknowns. The unknowns are what started this thing.

It's all relative. We have a population of 327 million compared to Italys 60 million and South Koreas 51 million. We're not testing nearly enough. Testing sick people who show up at the hospital does little good to reduce spread. It's the 80% who think they have a cold that need to be tested. Those are the main people who spread this. We need drive up test pavillions in every city in America. We need aggressive contact tracing. We need mandatory under penalty of law requirements for those people to be quarantined. Really anything short of that is simply slowing the spread so that hospitals can keep up while we all get it over the next year. It's a damn shame that our population is 1/4 that of China and in 3 weeks we now have more cases than they've had in 3 months.

Today at work we only had 4 picker/packers show up. The rest called off sick. As a result my orders are going to be late. Just in time inventory....NOT!

whole premise is off when you accept the Chinese info as accurate. They have multiples more than they’ve reported or tested for. You state that about the US but not about China. Weird.

Here is what I know. South Korea acticted very quickly and tested hundreds of thousands of people the first week and did very aggressive contact tracing. Exactly what the WHO said they should do. As a result.

We did not, and continue to not. As a result.

What happened here? Did you edit my post instead of quoting it? Is that moderator privilege 😂😂😂
anyway, I’m hopeful that since we are peaking approximately, not exactly, but approximately at the day count that they did it will be similar. No two countries are the same with regard to access to info, resources, personal freedom, imports and tourism, but we could follow a similar but elongated trend with the charts you have shown. Statistics are a funny thing though, one can apply narrative in many ways.

Nah I screwed my quote up somehow and tried to fix it and somehow boogered it more. 😅. I don't think we are anywhere near a peak here. I think what we're seeing play out in NY and California is only the beginning to what is going to hit every city in America just as hard.

Unless they come up with a vaccine or ‘cure drug’, then we all need to realize this is here and here to stay. Just like the flu.
They will never find the last person who has it and just keep them isolated until they are better. So sooner or later (unless you want to live the rest of your life sitting in your house worrying about it, and having no quality of life/freedom) things need to get going again. Some people will be willing to take this risk sooner than others. Doubt all will be ready by Easter. But it won’t be much longer for most.

As you keep the size and population in China in mind, do the same for S. Korea. ~52mm

This. For sure.
