The stores here in Heath seem to be following the script. People are keeping a safe distance and inside populations are limited.
Stopped at a local food lion down here. They had one way isles with markers. Green arrows you’re going on the right direction. Red you’re going the wrong way 😂
Found it rather comical, especially when I didn’t realize initially that I was the salmon swimming up stream 😂

If state and local is not going to enforce this under penalty of law then what the fuck are we doing besides wasting our time.
Which laws exactly?
If we close hardware, let’s also close state tax revenue generators such as liquor stores and pot shops. While we are at it let’s shut down gas stations, that’ll keep people home. Until they read the bill of rights. Only so much can be controlled for so long in this country. The reality has to be reality at some point. Even if it’s really bad. China can control virtually everything and has still been unsuccessful. So I agree we are wasting our time trying to control everyone everywhere. We can minimize contact and make recommendations, but people will have their individual freedoms.

Under this law exactly. 3701.352, Ohio Revised Code, states, "No person shall violate any rule the director of health or department of health adopts or any order the director or department of health issues under this chapter to prevent a threat to the public caused by a pandemic, epidemic, or bioterrorism event." It's a second degree misdemeanor.

While lowes hardware may fall under "essential services or supplies" I find it had to believe that it applies to mulch and a new hosta. My point was if we're not going to enforce what the state has put in place, then we shouldnt base a reopening off of the success of it. If we do that the people and businesses who are doing the correct thing will suffer because of the less considerate and those who refuse to be parents and enforce it with their crotch puppies.

As for China, who knows. On paper they kicked our ass as far as getting the virus under control and reopening their country. But its China so they could be just throwing them in concentration camps on the down low.

It is fascinating that you believe anything China puts on paper. How about the 50% increase in deaths in Wuhan that was just updated? Is that the only omission they’ve made? China failed, even with their authoritarian capabilities.
As for the revised code, good luck with that. $750 or 90 days in jail. You’re concerned about over crowding hospitals but you want to pack people into already packed jails? That will certainly end up with even more packed hospitals. Wouldn’t take long for a supreme court decision to come down on that either. How do you know my intent for being out? Based on what I check out of Lowes with? Why were they able to sell me the mulch then? You want to go the Michigan route? Clearly it isn't working out for them. People will comply with sensible action, but they will push back on mindless tyranny. Especially tyranny that isnt effective at stopping a pandemic. I guess when you have a hammer everything looks like a nail.

FYI on testing - my cousin who tested positive twice tested negative and then positive again. Docs told her it was a false negative and that false negatives are occurring at a high clip. 40% chance of a false negative per internal Cleveland Clinic data. So, as we blindly trust south korea and china while being hypercritical of the US, let’s also not even acknowledge the potential accuracy issues with testing or the cause of death logic being used. Good grief.

Interesting tidbit. First I’ve heard about false negatives and a percentage. Thanks for sharing that.

Hey guys I’m running to menards and Walmart later for diapers, paper towels and salt. Only one of those is really essential. You mind if I grab a can of paint while
I’m there or should I sit in jail for that?

Don't put words in my mouth, I was pretty clear that chinas on paper stuff could be hugely bogus...

""As for China, who knows. On paper they kicked our ass as far as getting the virus under control and reopening their country. But its China so they could be just throwing them in concentration camps on the down low."

I also didn't say we should be throwing people in jail. I said IF we are going to base reopening the state based on the success or failure of the stay at home order, THEN they should be enforcing the order, to include "essential businesses" that believe mulch and flowering plants are "essential supplies". Regardless of if you agree or disagree with the order, or believe it tyranny or not, we should not be basing the resumption of peoples livlihoods on the success of an order that is being ignored by idiots and manipulated by "essential" businesses..... You either enforce it or you don't. If you arent, then you don't base reopening a states economy off it's success or failure..

Your faith in foreign governments has been highlighted in many other posts, not that one. You also brought up misdemeanor 2 - so I shared the punishment.

Well It's not that hard for other countries to do a better job when the US completely screwed the pooch when it came to preparedness, testing, contact tracing, hospital capacity, and pretty much every facet of dealing with a pandemic. That's not to say we don't learn from our mistakes and get better, but from the start, we have been behind this and never in front of it. For christ's sake, during probably the most critical early phase we disregarded the world standard of testing to create our own test that ended up being a massive failure.

The point still remains.. IF we are going to base reopening the economy on the success of the stay at home order, then we have to enforce the stay at home order. We can't base the continued closure of people's livelihoods on the inability of selfish people to follow instructions because they want some mulch and flowers.

I just got back from Costco and a hardware store where I was looking at a chainsaw. two people working in the hardware store wore masks, one patron. that was about half of the people in the building that I saw. had to wait in a line to get into Costco, which moved quickly. Still, it was very crowded, with the same morons meandering down the middle of the isles as if they are the only people in the store. about 3/4 of the people there were wearing masks, including most of the employees, but not all of them. what a friggin' joke. I'm not kidding when I say that about 1/2 of the people wearing masks, mostly of the home made variety, not actual N95 type masks, did not keep them over their noses because they were worn so loosely. it was hilariously, sadly, stupid. I had at least 6 people walk right up to me ( I was not wearing a mask even though I have a supply of N95 masks, and have no intention of doing so unless I get sick, in which case I won't be leaving the house, anyway) and stand right next to me with their mask barely on their face at the meat cases. the gubmint can't fix stupid with rules. and at the end of the day, when you boil this all down, it's up to each of us as individuals to do what we must to keep ourselves safe or, at least, apparently, make ourselves feel safe. I'm all about keeping my distance from people, proper disinfection, and staying out of harms way, but I'm not going to be turned into a sheep, and I'm going on with my life. if that makes me part of the problem, so be it.
