I

I have one. Mason has also killed one in his relatively short hunting life. Cody’s very first bird may be his best ever.
Definately a limb hanger... Don't thing I've ever killed any with 1.5 inch Spurs... So he's starting out on the right foot... But then again he's got a good teacher....

Mason is quickly becoming an expert of the woods. Brock you've done well..
The turkey's have done nothing but make me look like a fooooooool... LOL.
My kid has hung tuff this week, up at 4:30 and hunt hard till 10 or 12 depending on activity... This covid 19 crap has put my kid back in my hands for 4-8 hours a day just me and him. Its just a matter of time before he knocks one down and it will definitely be well deserved... Heck he's almost got my 73yr old Mom wanting to hunt again..... This will make my season if she does....

He is taking my buddy, Charley, hunting in the morning. Charley is a good friend. He also owns our local urgent care facility. He was able to get me a test for my SIL during their recent Covid episode. While I was there he mentioned going turkey hunting with us. He has yet to kill one so I told him I’d try to help him out. I planned to take him tomorrow but of course I’ve got this knee thing flared up pretty good again so I told him Mason would take him. I think he’d rather go with Mason. :). Mason is out in the rain hunting mushrooms now on the farm he hopes to take Charley to. He’s hoping to put one to bed later.

I’ve killed one that had 1 1/2” spurs...also had a 11 3/4” beard...both are personal bests for me. Got the turkey mounted at a place I’ve never been to before but I noticed his work in a local archery shop. While dropping the turkey off, I noticed a cat walking around the guys shop. He said that cat never bothers anything. Several months later when I picked up my turkey, I couldn’t help but notice the turkeys beard wasn’t the same 11 3/4” paintbrush it used to be. It looked like a 7” thin beard of a hen turkey! Turns out the cat chewed the fugg out of it. He had the balls to tell me to just “get another beard and use a pin to reattach it”....like beards that large are easy to get. Other than that, the mount does look good, but I’ll never take another too him and strongly advise others to do the same.

That would be an ugly thing to endure without killing a man. lol
Mason just sent me a video of a bunch of gobblers fighting while he is standing among a bunch of mushrooms. Lol.

Fury... That does suck... Just can't trust anyone, even friends... Had a friend mount my last bear... Mount came out good but must have used a cheap form... Pisses me off as he knows I'm super fussy and should have known that when buying the form, money is not an issue... He hunted with us in the past in Illinois and wants to come back.. Well let's just say it would be a cold day in hell first...

Fury,
My biggest bird ever I took to a new taxidermist and then never saw it again. It was a 10 3/4 inch beard with 1.5 inch spurs. Guy was a friend of my uncles and was just starting a new business. Saw his work and it was nice so I said why the hell. And that was my mistake. Waited a year and tracked the guy down. He was in jail for beating his wife and holding a gun to her head when the cops showed up. I guess I’ll just have to find another bird of a life time

Watching a hen pick around in a green field. Gobblers hammered on the roost and for a time afterwards. They came right up behind me on neighbors property but never came into the field. They moved off but I imagine they may come back. Mason has our friend Charley over that way trying to help him get a bird.

I just read where youcan hunt all day starting today? Can anyone confirm this? Didn’t realize it had changed.
You are correct. Today starts all day.
