Thing is, your pops is going to get his money either way. Either in a big chunk from your bank loan, or slowly trickled through your land contract. My initial thought is you should take advantage of these low interest rates while you can by financing with a bank, then your dad can take that fat check and reinvest it. He will likely make much more than 3% on his money.

We discussed that avenue a bit. Contractually, I'm not obligated to do anything until 2021, so we'll sit down then and have an honest convo about what makes the most sense for each of us.
Lots of options. Just keep it on paper. I don't know your family. Not saying they are good or bad people. Just saying when a parent passes, sometimes it brings the bad side out of good people. Whatever you do, ensure it is clearly spelled out on paper. I'd hate to see you in a bad spot.
If I were in your dad's shoes I don't know what I'd want. Lump sum check might hurt him on taxes. Adjusting the interest rate upward with the banks might do him better. Sounds like you're both flexible. Not dumb guys. It will work out as it should.

So I mentioned in the camping thread about how I thought I broke a belt in one of my truck tires. Turns out I had a bigger issue with the tires and had two bad. Research turned up that it was somewhat of a common issue with the General M/T. Tread separation from the sidewall. Creating a bump in the tire. This happened to both rear tires.
So after talking with some people I was all over the place about what to do. I’ve been unhappy with the wheels and tires from before buying the truck. I finally found a guy that was willing to listen to me and what I wanted. (Troy from XTP diesel and off-road) We ended up with trying the new Toyo AT3 325/60/20 and keeping the rims I already had. 50,000 mile warranty on a tire of this size is what sold me.
I can’t stress enough about the importance of tires. Sure the ones on the truck were less than half the price of what I just put on. But what would it of cost me had one of those let go while towing the camper with the entire family? I just couldn’t sleep well with that on my mind, so I went with what I thought was the best of the best. I also went ahead and spent the money on a 4 wheel alignment to ensure I started the new tires with them having the best chance. They should last a while, because I can’t turn very sharp

Looks good Dave! Safety when with the family on the road is worth every penny. I like those Toyo's, looking forward to how they wear, Dave. I bet they are quiet compared to some busted belt MTs!
My gasser has had an easy life the last few months, only a couple 14K lb-ish loads. Only 13K miles on the ticker since Sept. '19 due to rona. Had my first warranty repair done last week, check engine light came on for the hood switch having low voltage. Took some time to get the part in but she's good now.

How’s that working out for you?
I’ll report back Monday. Haven’t really drove the truck and haven’t hooked it up yet. Actually just got done with the grinder today. Decided I wasn’t taking any more truck out. Gonna deal with it or buy new rims.
Being a crew cab long bed...that measures 59’ with the camper, it SUCKS already
