You are correct, vacation is over. I will go up on weekends and will now be able to have the whole family there. We’ve had a great season except for the lack of ducks, but it is what it is. Hunter has been bow hunting the nwr and the deer are still rocking, probably will be till the season ends and after.

Our season ends on the last weekend of January. They pushed it back as it used to end around the 21st.... whenever the weekend was. We usually have plenty birds by now and mallards. Isn’t many ducks down here either. Everyone saying DU short stopping ducks but htf you stop millions of birds? Our Mississippi flyway has shift over to the central flyway. I’ve duck hunted for 45 years and have killed my share of ducks, and many others. By far this is the worst season ever, nothing even comes close. You’d swear it’s October here in Louisiana.

Well both groups went to separate duck holes. 10 people killed 26 wood ducks. I went to check out and old spot and got handed a goose egg. Hurried to the camp to drop pearl off and grabbed my rifle. In the stand before 8am, major feed is from 8-10. Pushed 3 does off my stand going in. It’s cold, clear and calm.
Dj hunting the public w bow and look what walked past his stand at 5am.

I think you should look into creating a new 'duck dynasty' show or some sort of hunting program to be broadcasted on one of the 'Discovery' channels! I'd watch it for sure. You and your crew seem to have a ball within the beautiful outdoors, which I think is pretty damn cool!

Congrats on your most recent success! Great pics!!

Haha that’s funny. Although the thought of it sounds cool, but it’s not. Anytime you turn something you love into a job, well it’s not that much fun anymore.
I only share the highlights on this thread as the rest are boring. Just like everyone’s life on Facebook. My wife gets caught up with others posting like they living the fairytale dream. Trust me most are not.
So a few years ago a great site was crashing and a few on there wanted to start a YouTube video thingy, I guess like the public hunter series. I was about it and wanted to call it “keeping it real”. Wasn’t gonna be much killing and catching highlight reel because that’s not how it is in real life. I wanted to portray the average outdoorsman which has very few highs and lots of struggles. As a viewer the first 3-5 series would be interesting, after that it would be boring. No pushing products, just open feelings in what we believe and trust in. No high fence, canned hunts, ranches where the guide says hunt here and a 160 gonna pass at 4pm by this tree. The whole premise would focus on hunting and not killing, bringing young in the outdoors and enjoying the little things. Real simple concept. Who is tired of watching someone drop a hammer every hunt? Those things don’t happen for real. Plenty trial and error, misses, hunts w nothing seen, fishing w maybe catching a few fish, that’s real life. Enjoying and celebrating a doe or small buck, few ducks here and there.
I suppose that my hunting is interesting to you midwesterns because it’s different as the opposite peaks my interest.
