Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Challenger blowing up shortly after launch... Who remembers where or what you were doing??? I was sitting in the emergency room soon to go into surgery for a ruptured appendix...

So you're appendix wasn't the only thing that blew up that day.
I guess you can say that... I can still remember comming out of the operating room going into recovery and hearing the nurses say that was bad... So I said what was bad... Nurse says you... You dumb ass that was the worst case of a ruptured appendix they ever had... I had about 5 drains comming out of me....

Was in high school wondering why some of the teachers were crying, only to find out a few minutes later. Think it happened around lunch time.

Was still in dads sack. Bunch of old fuggars in here. I asked my daughter if they learned anything about it in school or if it was brought up today and she never heard of it. I remember learning about it when I was young in school.

We just watched a good show on Netflix about this. NASA and Thyacol new there was a problem with the O rings. Fear of losing funding and not keeping the schedule forced the launch when some engineers advised against it. It never should have happened.

I think I was in 8th grade.

Yep, the temperatures were out of the parameters for a launch....

I was at a fruit grower’s meeting at the county extension office in Canfield. Heard about it on the truck radio as I was leaving.

I was working full time AGR at the National Guard Armory in Lebanon OH - I was the only person there that day.
Remember going out right away and putting the flag at half-staff.
I remember it sucked, very sad.

And I remember the bad jokes started the next day.

I was being babysat by my great aunt at her house, just days shy of my 4th birthday. It’s quite literally one of my earliest childhood memories.

This is what happened. Interesting video and will make you think about the shortcuts we take in our life. Please watch.
Interesting video...And yes you gotta wonder how many shortcuts are taken in life... It's one thing to take a shortcut when that shortcut is only affecting the person taking it... However when someone takes a shortcut that could affect another's life is where the line should be drawn...

Although I wasn’t alive for this I remember learning about it in school and watching the videos of it. I do remember watching the shuttle Columbia burn up on reentry to the atmosphere in 2003 and that’s hard to believe that’s been that long ago. I’ve always had a fascination with space/astronomy and I find it mind blowing to watch Elon Musks Space X launches now and then watch the rockets return autonomously and land on a ship to be reused. I still can’t imagine what’s going through the astronauts minds as they wait to launch and during the launch, I’d be nervous as hell!!!
