There are an enormous amount of tracks and poop. Crazy how they can disappear. It’s like they crawl in a hole or something. 😁. I only jumped one rabbit that was close enough for me to see and it had just come out of a hollow log. I’m certain they waited out the bitter cold morning in burrows. The dogs didn’t even act like they smelled anything resembling a rabbit until 1230 or so.

Things have certainly wound down. We still have a camera out. Haven’t checked it forever. Our future giant is no longer a hope... Amish boy killed him on the last day of muzzy season.
I like to take my bird dogs to my friends preserve in March for one last hunt. I felt a little lazy yesterday so I only took Peanut. My buddy Tony and I killed 12 birds. Peanut was flawless. He’s not yet two and is absolutely amazing. Lots of fun.

While having dinner with Chad and Mallory the other evening, Chad asked if we had picked up Mason’ buck from the taxidermist. We had. We’ve had it back since mid-March and I don’t think I’ve posted a pic of it yet, so here he is. The guy did a great job. I built a pedestal for it using a piece of cedar from our property and barn wood from a chicken house Mason helped his Grandpa take down about two weeks before he passed. The pic shows the deer as he appeared on the taxidermist wall.
