Don't forget to bite the head off the twister tail a half inch so the fish can get it in their MOUTH further...lmao
We're beyond that Chad. We don't even use tails anymore. Dint even carry them in our vests. No shame in our game. We know we're flossing them. No sense in pretending anymore. I do think I'll take some powerbait wax worms and put them on my jig just to mess with people

I tried salmon flies. Same river rules for size and such. Just not cost effective with the price of Gamo hooks. Never had a broke or bent hook though!

I was just curious what the flossing term means
Basically, the river is so full of fish, once you get down to the bottom, my 7ft leader is riding across the face of walleye as it swings with the current. Once I feel any resistance (the line along their face) I set the hook. Fish on! Very seldom do you actually get a hard strike, typically when you do, it's late April early May.

Thank you! So what do you use for leader material? Also, based on what you said to J is it pretty much a c-rig with the egg sinker on the opposite side of the swivel?

Yes. Most run mono leader from swivel to jig. I run a 15lb power pro mainline and 10 lb trilene leader. Some go heavier, some lighter. As far as the flossing debate, you'll notice 99% of the fish caught are hooked on the opposite side of the face and 99% are hooked from the outside in

Correct. I just run a 10lb mono leader. Fluorocarbon isn't necessary.

thank you for the replies! I don’t want to try to re-invent the wheel but could someone use a uni-knot with an inline bobber stopper and bead to stop the egg sinker? It would reduce the PIA of casting a 7’ leader. That may be over complicated for catching them though. Also, a guy might get more line twists that way as well.

I don’t want you guys to give all your tactics away but I’m having a hard time envisioning the setup. Is it: main line, swivel, leader, bead, egg sinker, road runner? Wouldn’t the egg sinker run all the way down to your lure?

Y’all using this knot for your leaders?
I use a barrel swivel tied on one end to the heavier poundage braid. Leader line attached to the other end of the barrel swivel and a lighter weight than the braid. That way when you get snagged on the rocks and have to retie the line there's less work involved with cold fingers trying to make that connection. Egg sinker goes above the barrel swivel with a bead to stop it from sliding down and hitting your knot at the barrel swivel.
