@Chancegriffis how low? Broadside? Quartering away? Ground blind or tree stand? I'm really trying to be optimistic for you guys. Any watery/slimy looking blood like he may have hit the guts? The arrow looked pretty clean. I'm hoping it just got cleaned off on exit. Good luck again in your search.

Drove to WV yesterday to hang a stand and check cam. At least 4 shooters and lots of other bucks. Raining acorns on the public ground so I stuck around for a morning hunt.

Saw two does last night and spotted a buck right at dark. Moving in on him this evening

Well that’s it boys, I’m calling off the search for my sons. Total track was 1167.8 yards according to onX. I lost blood and started grid searching about an hour and a half ago… I’ve been back on the search since 630 this morning. To no avail….. Just to give a little shot story. Deer was completely broadside, and was shot from the ground. Right around 30 yards. Arrow never penetrated the cavity from what I can tell, just hit super low and may hav lacerated stomach lining or clipped a touch of intestines… I’m really not sure about the bolt.White hair and a touch of goop on it with very very little blood….. I know this happens to all of us at some points in our hunting career but to happen to my son on his first deer, kills me. I want to stay out and continue to track this deer but I don’t think he has passed nor will be passing anytime soon. I’ve made it to an Amish farm now that will not allow me permission to go search for the deer so my search has to stop here. Anyways, there will always be more deer to kill and more time spent in the blind or the stand with my son! Good luck to everyone who’s going out today/tonight. Sorry Giles, maybe tonight you’ll get a ball pic from me but the BB nuts are safe, for now.

Not much today. Just 3 doe in the morning and this young guy with a clustered rack tonight. Counted 10 points on it.

Saw a pretty big 4 point (relatively speaking lol) tonight, came right to me and fed. Buddy saw a distant spike and a 6 point with a doe. Also two longbeards. Overall a great weekend of hunting will hope to get back after it soon.

3 sits this weekend. First AM sit I saw over 20 deer!! Crazy AF…never seen that many. The only ones in range were with young fawns. The next 2 sits….not a damn thing

Have been settled in for a little over a half hour now on some public land. Found a nice patch of white oaks absolutely dumping acorns with a fresh scrape in the middle of it. Don’t know a ton about this chunk, did about 3 hours of homework on it a few months ago. Perfect staging area before they head out to some standing corn upwind of my position. Hard to say what kind of pressure has already been in here due to rules stating you can’t leave a stand up over night, likely keeps a lot of people out. DOW officer said it’s very light pressure and plenty of deer. We will see.
