Hung the deer up today, not sure about the vertical placement, still have one awesome item for the mantle.
Got all the rails mounted up and holes drilled for the rebar, now to take it and the stairs all apart and sand and stain and put it back together.
The mirror finally got here, so I got it mounted and the barnwood frame made.

What about that barnwood vanity? Did you build that as well?? Looks GREAT!
If you get a chance, share the story on that deer. I enjoyed it at camp. I don't recall ever hearing it before. Damn cool piece to hang in that house!
It truly gives me joy to see an individual building something custom. In the point and click world of cookie cutter homes being massed produced, peoples idea of designing a home is the same as car buying. Fastest cheapest rules king. Youve got an awsome home i hope you can relax soon. Great job.
Thanks man it is a labor of love for sure, I just wish the wife would sometimes want something done the simple way. Lol
next up, how complicated can we make installing pantry shelves.
I found this funny, my son went to a class party at a house that is on the market for 1.1 million, it is a beautiful house with lots of nice custom touches. But check out the laundry room sink. Awesome faucet and a $60 plastic tub?

Here is a picture of the finished stairs, still have to stain the big beam and trim over the end of the floor.
Here is a little teaser, wanted to try something different for the guest bath. The lower part is the walls are covered with rusty corrugated metal, like the bar, for the top instead of barn wood I wanted to try something different.
I have several red oak beams so I planned on having them ripped by a sawmill that uses a circular, but these beams have nails in them so that is a no go.
So I got a used beam saw with a carbide blade and started ripping the beams myself. I am loving the results, the look of the fresh cut wood, the saw marks, the gray part on the sides. More pictures to follow.
