When I got back from Strouds, I came down w/ something & I had a terrible coughing spell for two weeks. Then my wife got it. Anyway, I'm pretty much over it but a rapid cough will occur here & there. Years ago, I bought a Cough Silencer & it has saved quite a few hunts. Even today. I don't know if they're still available, but don't hunt without it ...

Glenna worked until 5 last night. We didn't make it to the stand in time and chose to watch from the house. A 150ish 8 pt Came out of nowhere and chased a doe around the field for about 10 minutes. She started acting really funny and we watched him mount her twice within a 15 minute period. Pretty sure the way they were both walking he got his nut on the 2nd try. Only 2nd time ever I got to see such a thing.

10 doe so far and a descent buck at first light, set up in a good funnel close to bedding area. Farmers have about half the corn off and picking now. No chasing herev yet.
I love sitting on stand, watching the combine doing its work . Hoping that a bunch of deer bust out of it. Last time I did it, every time he went by he’d wave and give me the thumbs up. When he was done, he pulled up about 30 yards from me, lowered the chute and dumped a big ole pile of corn… That was so cool of him too do.

Well, I can bitch now. Amazing hunt until a misjudged yardage came into play. There's a hot doe in here and I sailed one over the back of the biggest of 5 bucks so far. Was full draw on the Funky Fork too. 35, not 40 now that I have time to range it. 🤬
5 yards made that much of a difference? 😳

Nope. Positive of 600 grain arrows. He jumped 2 bounds, stopped, then went right back to following that doe. I probably deserved that. 21 years of bowhunting and over 20 bow kills, I've wounded 2 and had a FUBAR moment where I shot a tree in front of me (long story), but I've never cleanly missed a deer with a bow. Until today.

Rooting for you man. I’ve had that happen before and you will for sure dial in that next shot. Sounds like your opportunities won’t dry up soon.

Not in the stand, but three does in my backyard off my deck. One just chilling out on the ground. Too bad I can't hunt here.

It was a 26°, w/ virtually no NW wind, start as I surrounded the field finger in the dark, hiking towards my tree-stand. There was a buck standing in the middle of the field though. I had to wait on him for approximately 15 minutes to leave and move on, headed North into the woods.

I finally get settled just before 7 with no issues afterwards.

Roughly 7:20, a big bodied buck comes out of the woods, just to my right, off the main deer trail North of me, and he marches through my best shooting lane, cutting all the way across the field, only stopping briefly at the end of the field finger momentarily, then heads to the same area I saw a big buck yesterday get up from. Right along the South side of field, in the middle of it, within some tall grass/weeds with still unpicked beans mixed in, nearest to the hedge-row that goes all the way to the road from the woods I'm sittin in.
I do believe he might be the same buck as yesterday's 8 a.m. big buck. I should also have him on TC from this mornin. I'll be checking it during lunch break later.

Then about a quarter-til 9, a lone button came out of the field finger and fed right along the wooded/field edges for about 20-30 minutes, then headed back to where he originally came from.

That's it! Much slower than what I was anticipating with this frosty mornin.

Anyhow, I nearly demolished a big buck last night while driving home. Happened almost a mile away from here.

Still plenty of standing corn in the surrounding properties. Yesterday they started harvesting the biggest field of all of them, which is just South of these here woods/beanfield I'm currently huntin.
Hopefully, they'll finish it up today and push whatever corn fed hiding big buck right towards me later on. I shall see...

Thanks fellas. Hopefully my wife's schedule allows me to stay here all day. There's 2 shooters on my side of the creek and I'm in the middle. Glad I packed a lunch!
Over the next two weeks, it’s not a matter of if a big deer will come through… it’s when. Just gotta be there when it happens! Coffee + snacks + patience = success.

Hopefully you get another crack at one of them!
