Pathfinder school Dave Canterbury

I see that some of you have attended his classes, what are thoughts in them?

Scouting for Seniors! And i love it!

The Old Boy Scouts had a "Scouting is outing" theme, meaning get out there and practice preparedness!

The New Boy Scouts kept the theme, "Scouting is Outing." but it has an entirely different meaning today...

I took his basic class last year with my 11yo (at the time) son. We both patched.

Skills:
fire making (lighter, fatwood, ferro rod, char material)
water purification (mainly through billing though other ways were touched on)
land navigation (only in shooting and walking azimuths)
emergency shelter construction (rapid deploy ridgeline and the 4 quick shelters to make from an emergency blanket)

It involves a lot of hiking and foraging tinder off the landscape of his property and it has some brutally thick areas.

I enjoyed it and memories were made but i didn't find it exceptionally challenging for me. We did have about 20% drop out over the course of it.
