Ok, we’ve had a Samsung refrigerator for 3 years now. A while back it started freezing up and not making ice. I looked up a force defrost mode and it somewhat worked. But took a lot longer than a heat gun would. Another member (who’ll remain nameless at this time) also had the same issue. He’d contacted Samsung and they ok’d the ice maker replacement free of charge. So this morning I did the same. With the same results. Called and calmly explained the issue, listened too how he was surprised as he’d never knew there was any issues with their ice makers I explained too him in a rational tone that indeed Samsung had issues, and with the internet they can’t hide them anymore. YouTube had the fix for it and it was a replacement of the ice maker.
After him getting a little more info, he asked to send a picture. He sent a text, I tested back what he needed, one being the email they didn’t show and another a picture of the ice maker with tray removed.
This was after a day and a half from the last defrost. Basically the refrigerator temps leak up into the ice maker causing it to freeze up, ice gets jammed and the whole thing quits working. If you go on YouTube you’ll see a plethora of videos referencing this issue. Talked too a sales associate at lowes and he said there was a class action lawsuit in the works on this. Lawyers will make a lot not so much for us. I’d rather them just fix the problem and be done with it.
Our refrigerator was 2 years over the warranty, and the other unnamed individual from this site was a little over double that X 2
