Looking for a Deer Rifle

I’ll be shooting the Winchester Powermax bonded 160 gr this year. Gonna make sure she’s dialed in this weekend and hopefully have good results to report in a couple weeks.
I have a bunch of the different weights. I'm using all the 150gr before I switch. My CVA cascade really likes them and can print sub inch 3 shot groups at 150 yards with them. Its hard to argue that type of accuracy but i think I'd prefer a different type of bullet.

Love my budget 350 Legend. Bought for my 10 year old CVA scout with scope. I like it too and will occasionally hunt with during gun season.

From the ballistic charts in it and most likely ranges to hunt, I already have 40 y/o 30-06 so just something to increase my accuary and as has been said - not clean up the ML. Plus a second shot within 45 secs...
Based on the the above and comments I'm heading to the 350L in 160. I've shot the 30-06 in 165BT on Elk, Bear, Mulies, antelope and whitetail. My experience is that weight kills what it hits - albeit a bit faster in the 30-06.

IME the 160gr bonded winchester is the one I see the least. Followed closely by the hornady 165. I've yet to see any of the barnes or all copper 150gr win in person.
I mainly see the 150 g, 145, 180 win, and the browning loads.
Decent to good price, good place to order ammo from especially if you can swing a case.

This is what I use the 45-70 for. Would hate so see what it would do to a deer.

Yeah I shot him Saturday. We are in Jefferson and elk county. He was number 8 this year. First animal I have shot with my 45-70. Hit him thru the shoulders first shot. I shot again but definitely didn’t have to. The hole when we skinned him was wild. I wish I took a pic
@Mdavis96 Your thread turned in to quite a lesson on firearms and ammunition! Have you finalized a decision? Made a move? Got pictures to show us?

I went to Cabela's this morning to pick up some boots ammo and another gun. I seen this on their ad when I was there. If you sign up for the club card it's a decent deal plus you'll get $20 more off I think for signing up and they have 0 percent financing for 12 months depending on how much you spend I forget what it said exactly.

I love guns, own a bunch and hunt all over but love bowhunting most. That being said I have a few muzzleloaders, one of which is a custom smokeless. This is my go to deer gun. Legal basically everywhere, can outshoot most rifles and feels different to me being a one shot and done. Granted everyone has a flavor, needs and desires but this is a niche most aren’t considering that is so sweet.

$350? I don't see what calibers it is available in. Is it 350 legend? That might not be a bad coyote gun in the odd season too.
I spend many years hunting NY and SC with a WIN Model 70 in 0.270WIN, loaded up with 150 gr. Nosler Partition bullet, and 53 gr. of H450. Most of my cartridges were necked-down '.06's which I got from the NY Armory. I moved to Ohio, and had to learn how to ambush hunt with a crossbow. I saw and shot a lot more deer with that Crossman crossbow, than I had seen in 23 years of hunting, in NY's northern zone, or McCormick County, SC. Having killed a nice 8PT with a 12ga and some pumpkin balls (and had to take a few shots to put him down), I resolved to buy a rifle, for Ohio's quirky gun season. I looked at the 0.350 Legend, the 0.450 BM, and the .45-70. Each one of those rounds seemed fine for my use (almost all of my shots would be down or across the woods in a tree stand, less than 100 yards). I settled on a 0.450BM, in Remington 783. It's awefully short rifle, but it does hold a zero out at 200 yards, with a 2" group (1 moa). Buy what suits you. Practice with it, so it's use becomes memory. If you 'destroy meat', then shoot two deer. If you do get a .450BM, be prepared to pay for ammo, or reload. There are plenty of websites with data on the loads. The Reloader22 seems to work fine, with the 250gr FTX bullet (cheaply sold as a Blackpowder Sabot round). Have fun....
