Sgt Fury

Sgt. Spellchecker
I was legit rattled and let it compromise my decision making. That gun hasn't missed a deer in the 16 years I've had it and I haven't missed a deer with a gun in 17 years. Terrible.
I know you’re sick to your stomach and words won’t change that. There’s still a chance he will stay in the area so all is not lost. If we were successful every season, it wouldn’t be as fun. The possibility of failure, be it wind, an unseen branch, or just a plain miss, is what puts the challenge in each hunt and is what keeps us addicted. Still plenty of time to get him, and what a story you’ll have to tell!👍

I blew it. He was bedded where I thought and used the trail I was ready to shoot and I flat whiffed. He was moving quickly and I got him stopped slightly quartering to at 50 yards and absolutely jerked the trigger and missed him to the right. Freaking humbled right now. He looks incredible in person. Now I have to hope he sticks around, but I'm afraid I blew it for the year.
Sorry that happened and I’m sure it hurts. Unfortunately words won’t make that feel better. Best thing is you weren’t over your corn pile so he won’t relate the scare he had with that. Broke a similar streak today when I missed a good doe. Cody and I did a little wind bump that we’ve done for years this afternoon. He shot a real nice doe and a good buck ran past me. We got her out and set up a stalk and I blew a shot that I should have made. We probably just bumped our scopes walking that “crp” field yesterday! Looking forward to reading the story when you kill that buck with your bow 👍🏻

We all have blown it sometime and if we claim we never have then you aren’t hunting. Collect your thoughts as well as reflect on what happened and hopefully there will be another opportunity.
