Masons pal Anthony bagged his first bird today. We are two for two on guided hunts this year. 😁

Outstanding! Just quit now so you guys don't have anyone else mess up your numbers🤣
Probably a good idea. 😁. We tried to get one going for Mason out at our place after Anthony filled his tag. No luck there so I guess our batting average took a turn already.

Headed to the barn this AM about 6:40, heard em hammering in the back woods. Did a u-turn, and went in and bought a permit, got dressed, and put 1 hen decoy 30yrds into the field. The 2 Jake's that crossed the property Saturday AM were still around and both came running/strutting into the field. At 15yrds one got a headache. Fast, fun, successful hunt.

Good friend of mine, Eli, asked me yesterday if I wanted to “guide” him this morning in hopes of his first turkey. We went to a chunk of public that I’ve had reasonable luck on years ago. Got up at 3, met at 3:30, stopped and got some snackies and were to the parking lot by 4:45ish. It was 3/4 of a mile walk so we started walking around 5:30. I ripped off half a dozen owl hoots during our walk around 5:45-6 with no gobbles, which made me sad. We continued to the corner that I wanted and birds started firing off damn near 360°. Eli was visibly shook, absolutely pumped lol. I put out a 1/4 strut Jake mounting a lay down hen in the clear cut/ flooded CRP and a lookout hen inside the timber edge where we sat. Birds gobbled nonstop for a half hour until they flew down. I heard some very obnoxious hen yelps where the birds sounded to be, turned out to be a hunter on private a couple hundred yards away. BOOM…BOOM BOOM………. BOOM BOOM. Fugg. I was hopeful the birds would head our way after being shot at. 45 minutes went by, couple hens browsed through behind us in the timber. No gobbles. Nothing. I was pretty salty if I’m being honest. After a bit I heard some CRP crunching, for sure thought it was Eli being fidgety per usual, but he wasn’t moving. I look to my left into the field thing and there were 4 very bright red heads with 3” beards 25 yards away. Eli was probably sitting 5 yards away from me and had no idea the birds were there, I whispered to him that any of the 4 were fair game. They were all strutting their stuff, I did a few sharp cuts to get some necks stretched and he folded his ass. Got it all on video as well. We were both shook. I would have to say that was the most excited I’ve been for a Jake and also a bird I didn’t even shoot. High fives and fist bumps ensued, it was an excellent time with a good friend. For anyone that I have on other social media platforms I’ll be posting the video later today. PS: this dipshit didn’t even bring a face mask, thank god for Jake’s lol View attachment 177416View attachment 177417
Hell 3/4 of his face is covered 😂
