You have to find a good tree/bush with a good licking branch on well traveled route or need a bedding area where a lot of deer will be. Start with doe and buck urine before moving to an estrus scent.
Give yourself plenty of time, you would want to be in the stand well before daylight to let things settle down. I wouldn't dress in your full outfit untill you get to your stand, you will probably sweat a lot. Spray down once you get to your stand and you should be fine.
I bow hunted last weekend in Kentucky. Didn't see any shooters, but had a lot of does and smaller bucks within shooting distance. There were a lot of acorns dropping and the deer were browsing around eating acorns. Some bucks had shed their velvet and some still had it on. Just a heads up...
I haven't noticed much difference in arrow flight, I use the Nocturnal brand, it's one of the lightest on the market. I have noticed just a slight drop in yards past 40. So, I would just pratice with them on, to know what your arrow does.
