    ODNR Deer Harvest comparison

I don't believe Mike would intentionally lie to me or you. I do believe he knows more about managing our states deer herd than anyone who posts on this forum. His wife's an MD...he's a PHD, I don't think he worries to much about the homeless shelter or job security.

    ODNR Deer Harvest comparison

Correct. And I thought I had solved the problem last year when I brought him to camp. My hope was that you folks would see Mike Tonkovich in a different light and walk away with better understanding of the difficult job he has. Joe is right in that I used to be an outspoken critic of the...

    ODNR Deer Harvest comparison

There's a big difference between criticism and some of the cheap shots and personal attacks taken on this forum.

    ODNR Deer Harvest comparison

I told Tonk last year on our way to the camp, "prepare to meet your harshest cyber critics." The next day he called me and asked what the hell I was talking about. The the winter rolled around and the brain trust fired up again so I took the liberty of pulling together a PowerPoint with some of...

TOO Fall Outing: Strouds Run October 11-13

Hey Brock...tell my buddy Mason that I made one of those Tony Lapratt buck beds out in front of his stand and they're using it...

Cant wait for the first "I KNOW SOMETHING" thread

Not my deer... Taken by good friend of mine. I did have the privilege of helping drag him up a 40 degree incline to the truck. Litterally took half the night to get this deer out of the woods...a big ombré.

TOO Fall Outing: Strouds Run October 11-13

Not exactly Joe. The hunt was Brock's brain child and the reason it's at Strouds was to shoot the snot out of Rex's local deer. When Rex turned out to be a gracious host, the hunt morphed into the TOO fall outing...Brer Rabbit and the briar patch.

TOO Fall Outing: Strouds Run October 11-13

I set up this picnic table pinch point across from the boat ramp and the deer are already using it...;) I went for a breif hike on the park and it apears the acorn crop might not be as robust as I thought. Most of the white oaks that produced are already cleaned up.

TOO Fall Outing: Strouds Run October 11-13

I checked on Mason’s stand this evening…he’s good to go! The pawpaws are breaking the branches just over the ridge and the “yellow” acorns are now dropping out at about 40 yards…

    Article on canned hunts

From 1978 to 1988, I tagged out the 1st week of archery season 9 out of 11 seasons. My largest buck probably grossed 125”. I had one shoulder mount and 11 skull cap mounts displayed in our house. We didn’t have the quality of hunting then that we do now and at that time, I was proud as a peacock...

You're banned from future entries. Rob MCarley is the only example of the BBBC going back and pulling previous entries. This did happen one other time in the case of Roger Rothhaar. My first act as president of the club was to reinstate all of Roger's entries and write him a formal letter of...

Textbook example of what I was getting at and that's not looking down on anyone or any place. Lets table this discussion for a couple weeks where we can express ourselves a little clearer.

    Article on canned hunts

I've never participated in any deer contests on any forum although I do believe hunting is a competition sport. The competition being between the hunter and the hunted.

I disagree Kim. Shouldering part of the blame on record books is akin to tying guns to violent crime or forks to obesity. A hunters moral compass is the root cause...period. I agree with Gordo. The hunting community mirrors the general population and so does this forum and all the others that...
