    Looking for a Deer Rifle

I spend many years hunting NY and SC with a WIN Model 70 in 0.270WIN, loaded up with 150 gr. Nosler Partition bullet, and 53 gr. of H450. Most of my cartridges were necked-down '.06's which I got from the NY Armory. I moved to Ohio, and had to learn how to ambush hunt with a crossbow. I saw...

    Dantes textbook buck.

Those 10PT crossbows do a number on deer, don't they? Congradulations on a nice hunt, and a spectacular deer.

    Ian

My parents, who live off of MacGreggor Blvd, rode out the storm in their condo. They made out fine, on the 2F, but just around the corner, the causeway over to Sanibel was a total wreck. Folks are banding together, sharing space, as each other's place is repaired. I hope that you are able to...

How to find somebody to teach me hunting skills

If you are a fisherman, take a moment to think about how you fish a river or stream.. Trout will find a place to sit, where there is iittle current, but abundant food moving by. In some ways Deer are similar. Each has a fear of predetors, and a drive to eat. Use those to your advantage...

How to find somebody to teach me hunting skills

When you look at these maps, think of a place, where a deer could eat, drink, and sneak away for a nap. You are looking for acorns, or beech trees, or corn/bean fields, with water nearby, and some thicket not too far away from that. If the thicket is on the side of a hill, or allows them a way...

    Northern mi lake trout jigging?

my total experience with Lakers was trolling for them on the edges (along shoreline) in Spring or Fall, in NNY. Troll a streamer fly in the shallows, in fall or spring, and one would do fairly well (3 -5 per day, most 14 - 20", 1lb or so). We would also put bait on the bottom, under the ice...

    Best varmint caliber

I like plenty of rifling twist in 223, else accuracy seems to go out the window. A nice Camp Perry target 22 loaded up with Walmart specials is deadly against most undesireables. Enjoy what you shoot, shoot what you enjoy.

    Crossbow/treestand users

i hold mine all day in the climber, and hang it on a hook, when in the ladder stand. My 10-PT would rest nicely in the Summit. The hard part is anticipating if shooting behind you, while standing is possible.

    LEWT Tourney Cheaters

I don't weigh fish any more... Just measure length, and use a chart.... Most animals follow a profile, which is on the chart.... Deer Included.

The art of layering, I need input

I found FirstLIte gear to keep me warm, but it is expensive. Never tried Sitka gear, but it looks as good or perhaps better. I also carry a disposable pain pack (heater), which I can use on my lower back to stay warm. Gloves, boots and face coverings are a challenge. I would love to hear the...

    Vacation ideas

There is a good trout fishery in the Penobscot. The Merrimack, Assabet & Miller's River all hold trout easily cought. Clams can be dug at the beach for a song. It's not Ohio, but it's not bad. Enjoy your trip.

    2019-nCoV (Coronavirus)

Since all of it goes to Arthritis, and much of that is administerd without Cardiac Support, the fables of 'Dangerous HCQ' are non-sense. The most common side effect was eye trouble, not cardiac issues. Most all of the folks worried about it failed to read the package inserts.
