It is that time of year. With pleasure and honor, I am starting this thread. I think it might be just what I need to get my head in the game.

We had EHD hit last year. Wasn't good. Haven't had any inkling of desire to think about deer. Haven't even put out a camera and we are over a week into August now.

My goals:
1) Get in the woods. Enjoy my time. Get closer to God. It is what I do. It is who I am.
2) Meat in the freezer. Again, it is what I do. Lol
3) Maybe my focus should be on others. Take my lemons and make lemonade. If numbers are down in my area, then maybe focusing on helping others is where a much more true pleasure will come. Not just on the forum. In general though, find someone with a passion who lacks some direction.

As always, have a safe season and prayers of safety and success for all of you! Please remember: not everyone measures success the same. Your "basket rack 8pt" might be a monster to the next guy. So I wish you all much success, however you measure success.

Don’t break anything, especially on me…..
Hunt as much as I can with friends…..
Add a deer or two too the freezer….. My son and my neighbor will get the meat left over from last year….
Enjoy another non pressure season…. Take a deep breath when I get on stand, take another deep breath when I get down…. And enjoy all the ones in between…..

Haven't really put much thought into it just yet, but I'll give it a shot...

Would like to take a deer @strouds this year
Would like to harvest a good buck on our property, or the property right next-door to my home
Would like to hunt all seasons
Intend to get after the yotes this winter again
Would be happy to take out any youth with parent that is a 'TOO' member and get'em on some deer on the properties I hunt around my home

As always, enjoy every second afield and make it home safely after each time out.

Wish everyone the very best of luck this season and hope you harvest what you're looking for!

1. Get Kaydence on a mature buck and/or doe.
2. Keep "The Streak" alive with Tracie, which will be tough with her being pregnant and due 1/24/22.
3. Stay safe. Stay in the moment. Stay grateful.
4. If, after all that, I can also shoot a mature buck and/or doe with my bow, I'm a happy man.

1. Stay safe and enjoy my time afield
2. Enjoy time afield with friends
3. Fill the freezer
4. Harvest a buck on my own place
5. Don’t lose sight of why we enjoy this in the first place

Above all, remain grateful for the opportunities we’re given to do what we love doing in the outdoors

Every year I post about how I like to enjoy my time with others. Friends, family, kids, bla blah blah. It's been a goal so long that it is just what I do now. So that being said. My goal this year is to pay for a mount. I know I will enjoy my time with whoever I'm with. But I didn't pay for a mount last year. This year I need to do that. Get one of these kids on a buck! Hell, let's shoot for the moon and set a goal for 3 or 4 mounts! Maddy, Kody, Levi and maybe even one for myself.

That's a goal. Unrealistic one, but I'm tired of posting the same thing every year. Time to mix it up and sound like a big buck hunter😂. Ranch Fairy said....😂

Wow I haven’t thought about this that much so here goes.
1. enjoy the small things and the journey getting there.
2. make a Midwest hunt w my boys, most likely this year in Missouri. We didn’t get picked for Iowa.
3. do more duck hunting and focus less on deer. Hunter fills many chest freezers here and friends.
4. enjoy the days hunting w friends and facilitate a few young ones to kill on my place.
5. Kill a respectable buck on my little piece of heaven, hoping the boys get a wall hanger.
6. get the wife to spend more time at the camp when we are up.
7. remember why I love this life, my father passing December 30th last year, he instilled the love for the outdoors. Some of my best memories were us hunting together. When I was 13 he lost the drive to hunt. I wish he hadn’t and I will not, spend as much times w my boys till I can’t. Hopefully get to hunt w my grandchildren one day.
8. give thanks to the lord for all his creations and the love he has shared in my life.
9. Share my journey w the friends on this site and enjoy reading yalls journey that you share.

there is more to be thankful for, I’m sure I’m missing a bunch.
