Black Raspberries

For those who pick its rapidly coming on! Glenna and I picked a little over a gallon today first trip out.

I’ve got wild ones growing near my driveway that are ripe but the ones in my garden are loaded but still a long way from being ripe.

Just went out and took pics...wild ones vs ones in the garden. Looks to be a very good year...maybe enough to make some “hand sanitizer”.

Yup, that blackberry bush is a couple years old and has very thick stalks...the three small bushes are raspberries that I just planted this year.

I checked my raspberries yesterday and looked a bit for some Oyster mushrooms or some early Chanterelles. I ate the handful that were ripe. looks like about another week for me, blackberries a couple of weeks, but there are a TON of blackberries this year. and I accidentally snuck up within 20 yards of a tremendous buck bedded near one of my mushroom honey holes. got a good look at him as he scampered off. something to look forward to this fall.

Looking good, Rick! A little early for them up here, yet. Anyone here ever make jam out of them? I've been making strawberry jam like a madman. Maybe I should try raspberries too.

We are making black raspberry jelly and syrup out of the old berries in the freezer. It's pretty awesome!
