A good pair of boots ain't worth much without a good pair of socks.
Sock game is on point. They need a good home and after walking a mile in 800-gram size 13 LaCrosse rubbers this morning, those boots can't get here fast enough!

Danner customer service gave me some homework to do, but they're working with me. Even if they fix them, like JB said, they're completely broken in to the point of being broken down when it comes to the stiffness in the ankles. I wore dual ankle braces in all 3 sports from the age of 10 on up due to having weak ankles. (Some sort of genetic thing I get from my mom that causes us to be very flexible, which isn't a good thing for your joints.) So the most important thing about a boot for me is stability. Hoping the Crispi system is what I've been after for years.

I should amend my post. These are the High Grounds that I got at Cabelas. Not Pronghorns. I think this boot morphed into the Vital.

I had the exact same thing happen to the exact same pair of boots. they had some miles on them already, so I just took my leather hole puncher and made a hole through the leather strip the loops are attached to. the leather was double thick there and it held up until I decided to pitch them. I'll never own another pair of boots without metal grommets for the laces.

So I just read this whole thread and I'm wondering if @Hedgelj bought the crispi or some other brand?
I ended up buying a pair of insulated Danners at Charm harness and boot. They are heavier than I'd like but I'm gonna get a lightweight uninsulated pair of something for the rest of the year.

I have an old pair of Danner High Grounds. Love that boot! Decided to get a new pair this past winter but found out that they no longer make one with that name. Ended up getting the Irish Setter Vaportrex 2. It’s definitely tighter and takes some breaking in but its been a good boot thus far.

Late to the game, but I bought a pair of the original Maine Hunting Boot last summer. I will never, not buy them again. They are the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever owned. I've put some miles on them and never missed a beat. I wouldn't mind a pair of the pull-ons for every day but I missed out on them. For late season, I wear two pairs of socks since they are the uninsulated variety although they do have an insulated pair. I have the 10" version.

Bought these Herman Survivors at Walmart last year for $15.00.... Wore them about 10 times until snow came... For a cheap boot they were comfortable and had support... And I put on alot of miles in very rocky conditions... No way I'm spending $300-400 on boots... Maybe $150...

You always keep sheds on top of your washing machine?
Just on Thurs.... That's an old shed I found and was gonna put some bleach on the stains and try to clean it up... So when I grabbed the boot out of the garage the shed was laying next to it... So I included it in the pic...

Yeah it wasn't as bad as I thought lol. I try to justify it by that I haven't had to pay for work boots for the last six years so I'm way ahead of the game in paying for boots even after ordering these.

$400 for a pair of hunting boots? No Fuckin thanks
You over pay for a beer to go with your dinner when out. What's the difference? Some of these guys put on a crazy amount of miles every year. I could justify it pretty easily and use them pretty often. Between shed hunting, hunting, setting stands, checking cams, scouting. I think you'd be surprised how often some of these guys would use them.

For you, that makes sense. Especially after you drag your camper 3.5 hour across the state this weekend to play grab aas with me and @Isaacorps. 😂

And to Dave's point, I bet I walk 100+ miles a year in the hills and hollers of this great state. My equipment needs are way different than those of my flatland counterparts who put on less miles.

I only own a snow shovel, but if I lived in Toledo, I'd have a snow blower.

I agree completely. Paired with the right socks for the temps they are like walking on clouds. They’re more of a light duty/casual boot for me but they get the job done for sure. They handle whatever the mean suburban sidewalks throw at them while on dog walking duty with ease 😆
