I figured I'd get this season started. I should have a solid "shadow" this year, my son (and a Mini Me) Brendan, whom will turn 7 in April.

He's been learning how to use the iron sights on his Red Rider BB gun.

Here he is on a recent squirrel hunt, the final day of Jan 31.

No squirrel this day but we saw one, got cold toes, and went home.

Feb 7th.

Despite almost 2 feet of snow on the ground Brendan asks yesterday if we could go rabbit hunting.

We got our gear on and headed out the door for a one hour afternoon hunt.

Brendan was the pusher and brush beater meanwhile I was the flanker.

We have a few brush piles around the woods left over from home building.....the perfect spot for the ambush.

Brendan lost his boot twice while jumping on some brush piles. He also got stuck a few times in some snow drifts.

He bounced out one bunny and one .20 gauge echo later........

Last night with the mild temperatures I decided to "man" the grill with a couple cold beers in hand. As I grilled some steaks, sausage, and pork loin.....God was busy painting the sky.

Here's a look down my driveway from my home to the road (which is near the sunshine on the horizon).

Feb 8th.

Jaden, our blood tracking dog, is now 11 weeks old.

He's accomplished every deer liver drag I've made for him out to 100 yards.

I work with him about twice per week. We'll be at it again this afternoon.

Jaden lounging (Rated R).

Feb. 8...

We prepped dinner, then headed outside to practice with the Red Rider.

Dinner...what else? Rabbit from the night before.

....and shot, and shot, and shot some more, until dark that is......

(Grandpa has a youth model .22 to give him however I need to teach him gun safety and accuracy first)

What a great thread! I not only enjoy seeing your quality time with him but quickly travel back down the memory lane of my youth. Keep up the good work!

Feb. 9th....2 hour delayed start to school this morning due to ice, that creates me a 3 hour delay until I get to the office......a slow starting Monday.

The boy recently got a WWE video game from Santa. He's been playing it religiously every since.

The game features a "creation mode" whereas you can create your own wrestlers and profiles so I created Me, "Big Daddy", with the closest resemblance and features to myself.

So needless to say, my son has two favorite wrestlers now, Big Daddy (that's me in the yellow) and Dean Ambrose (in the black).

This morning, Big Daddy beat Dean Ambrose in a Ladder Match.....sorry Dan.
