Deer cart

Any recommendations on a good one.

I looked at the hawk double wheeled cart and they look pretty sweet but I believe they were nearly 50lbs, maybe worth it though

I have one that’s a lot like this Herters cart:

The one I have was $50 and not $100. Got it at Stock and Field last year. It’s small and compact and doesn’t require any tools to unfold and put together. I think it’s awesome. I don’t have a truck bed to throw it in to. This one fits nicely into my Jeep Compass with the seats down. So another one to consider if space is an issue.

I looked at this at Vance Outdoors, they had a floor model. You're exactly right, sweeeet, but heavy. The reason I didn't buy it was the fabric bed. Same reason I don't like fabric seats in ladder stands, I don't see them lasting years and years. I bought the Allen meat wagon. All metal, easy to assemble, does a great job. That hawk thing just too bulky. But I bet it does a great job toting. No right or wrong answer on this one, just choices.

Nope and nope. Just wait for Jim to come along. No joke. I will have one and it will be used all year around. No longer will I need to park by the fore to keep my cooler close.

@jagermeister has a nice set up that can be used for much more than just deer.
This thing rocks. Extremely versatile when paired with a Jet Sled, and folds up flat for minimal storage space. The wheels could be beefed up a bit if I had my druthers, but so far I’ve not had any failures.

I will say though that I don’t believe it would be the ideal option for a deep woods job. Maybe if it was a relatively “open” woods. But I think going up and over logs and stuff would cause a structural failure.

I made one from a cheap dolly that had broken wheels. I welded bike wheels on it 🤷‍♂️ Have 30 minutes and some left over spray paint into it.
I've been eyeing the kids old bicycles lol. What I read so far is it's helpful to have solid wheels with no spokes for branches to get caught in. Any problems with that?

We have them w spokes but they are heavy duty spokes w bigger than bike wheels, flat on the surface and not air filled....solid.

Plastic rims, spokes will be a one time use. Most of the carts suck but better than dragging. The plastic sked is the way to go because it reduces the friction and easily transported. The metal carts are good but don’t plan on killing if you tote it back to your spot.....cart curse. Leave in the truck or camp and you will kill, never fails. The sked rolls up and easily packable.

I really wanted to buy that hawk double wheel but weight and cost pushed me to a cheaper model. I found a guide series for $50 on eBay. I might regret it but at most only need twice a season so I can probably deal with it fine. Thanks everyone

One of the complaints I read about this type was sticks getting caught in spokes so right off the bat i figured I'd cut 4 circles out of some plastic or something and zip tie to wheels in/out, should remedy that

That’s the kind I have, I think they are “strong built” brand. I haven’t had many issues w stuff getting caught in the spokes. Trust me when I say your area is not thicker than where I hunt.

Those palmettos are 5’ tall. Our crp isn’t grass like up here. It’s reforested crop land.
