First morning out hunting this year. Treestand I am hunting in is in a new tree for the first time in close to 20 years on this property. We decided to walk in, in daylight today. Bad idea. Spooked three does walking in. Around 8:15 I see movement on the trail to my right. Two deer. First one is a doe, so I assume it us the two I spooked earlier.. Well the other one gets closer I can see rack. Ends up being a 125-130" 8pt. In years past I wouldn't have hesitated. But I decided to let him pass. So of course he stuck around for twenty minutes.. He wanted nothing to do with the doe.. Quiet now beside the tree rats.. The woods here are torn up with scrapes..

Drops down a little more behind me, then back up the other side. The scrape in the picture is 20 yards..

Out tonight in a second location. We call it the field location. Nothing has been planted in it for two years. I am setup in the inside corner of it. Shaped like a L. Valley to my right, field to my left, acorn tree out in front. Already been busted by a doe typing on my phone.. Whoops...

Back in the same spot as yesterday morning. Scrape to my left was sometime since noon yesterday. Nothing so far. Dad texted and said he saw a buck in the neighbors pasture.

Went to the field stand tonight.. Saw 7 does and a 6 pt.. One of the does looked like she might be coming into heat. Was holding her tail straight out and running around acting goofy. Saw a fox mousing right at dark...Was cool to watch...
