Interestingly enough, after reading the comments on this after it was posted on the Wisconsin Woods & Whitetails FB page, the deer has a hole in its ear and the kid that shot it, stated he lives 10 miles from a high fence operation and they'd already contacted him about the buck. He's saying it was free range and that's the narrative other "big buck" pages are using. It'll be interesting to see how this gets handled. Tons of hate for the corn pile and crossbow combo if you can believe that

Congrats goes to the young man... Looks like something from a high fence operation, but if he shot it legally, good for him... Didn't a buck get out of a high fence operation in Ohio not that long ago and was harvested by a hunter???

One escaped just North of Newark a few years back. Was shot by the neighbor... quite a ruckus about it but if it's out it's out.

Can't blame him for shooting it!! Looks like the trail camera pics will be good proof that it was out and wandering and not drug through a hole in the fence.

There's another story out that in Field & Stream about

some guy in KY shot a buck on his property. I guess there's a deer preserve nearby in Indiana that has pics of this deer .....

Awesome on the deer. It should however not be scored as a record book animal. It's escaped livestock.

Yeah - i think someone on here said the deer farm had photos of that deer

If a high fence operation has photo proof of this deer and it is no longer on the farm. I suggest they pay the kid the trophy fee for his troubles. Then the DNR should get their share. IF this farm has CWD...burn it to the ground and test this escaped deer.

Just read an article on this one and it says he actually harvested it on the deer farm and paid for it. Go figure! (note: this is not the buck in the original post at the top)

We had some elk get loose in the mountains over here a while back. Extremely wealthy dude had a herd of elk fenced in without the proper permits. DNR was going to confiscate them but they magically got out.....one of those "what elk" situations. I'm sure they didnt survive very long in the hills.
