Chance, we went out of Stump Pass in Englewood.
My grandparents retired to North Port just East of Englewood. I spent a lot of time fishing and crabbing with my dad and grandfather in that area in the late 70s and 80s. Lisa and I actually looked into buying a couple of lots on a canal and building a retirement home there before we decided to build here. Love that area in the winter.

My dad applied for the football coach position at one of the high schools in Port Charlotte in the summer of 1980 when I was 12. They offered him the job. Had he taken it my life would have turned out way different. Fishing is actually fun in Florida. We caught a lot of fish in Charlotte harbor. The best 30 minutes of fishing I ever had was on a canal north of the harbor. We caught 29 red fish or red bass. Not sure what they are called. I was reeling them in and dad would switch me poles and take it off while I caught another. Good times!

Yep, redfish all over Charlotte harbor. I’ve had some great times down their on the skiff catching snook, reds, triple tail, cobia, etc. I miss the hell out of Florida but am loving Ohio so far

When I was last in fl I filled the box with mingos on small rods while the captin was trying to get a grouper off the back of the boat. He was upset I filled the cooler but helped him clean the fish so he wasn't to upset.,,,awsome eAting! Big flakes of grouper fillets could be the best thing I've ate...

I've had my share of fishing down off both coasts of Florida, Miami & Naples. I have a good friend that lives in Naples and invites us down nearly every year.

Don't know if any of you all recall that my youngest brother put up his home for rent in Orange Co. Ca. earlier this year and bought a brand new RV, then traveled the country visiting family & friends along the way while in pursuit of a new home. He visited our home over the summer and I posted it within my hunt journal - Wildlife 2020/2021 Deer Season
.

Anyhow, just before Christmas of 2020, he bought a new home in Florida and it appears that the wife & I will be spending much more time within the sunshine state. I love fishing and so does my brother, which he'll be starting back up his own fishing charter once again.

Here's a video of his new home if you'd like to check it out. -

And here's a few photos of when I fished last just off the coast of Miami, which was a fishing charter that the wife hired for just us as a wedding anniversary gift for me. Yeah, she's keeper for sure and we had a blast that day.

Trying to figure out why we left the sunshine?

Because the biting gnats are atrocious. I sprayed with the mist blower and Bifen. Same thing I use for mosquitoes and I swear it just made them meaner. Other than that sunny and 65 today. 😅.
