Ok, who's buying a HEC's clothing outfit this year??? Clothing that contains your "electrical energy field" ???? Therefore animals will not detect you... You gotta be kidding me... What's next??? Maybe Tinks 69 toothpaste... Guess we never killed a deer years ago wearing blue jeans and a blue plaid shirt???? Wonder if the Benoits will run out and buy some??? Probably not, all they need is their trusty 760 pump 06 and something forgotten today called : "woodsmanship" ....

You sure it wasn't red plaid? Deer see blues the best and reds the worst. You'd be getting busted all day in blue. Now with that being said yeah I cant even bring myself to buy Sitka clothing let alone this new gimmick.

I just hate clothes shopping in general. Shoot last two Turkey seasons I've been hunting in old puma sneakers. As long as I'm somewhat comfortable and the balls are covered I couldnt care less.

Hey what's wrong with a 760 pump O6.
Not a damn thing... Everyone in my family owns one... Best all around deer and bear gun going.. Just take a walk in the Pa deer woods opening day and see how many you see...

I bought one when Gander went out of business. It was on liquidation from the gunsmiths room for "missing parts" the only part missing was the barrel nut and the mag. Very good condition, no rust, BDL model. Talked the guy down some and walked out the door with it for 70 bucks!

Sounds like a great deal... Good Luck with it...

I think they’re on to something. It’s been around for years and hasn’t gone away. If I found some on sale I’d be really tempted to try it out. I love ground hunting and any advantage I can gain, even if it’s mental, I’ll take!

I was on your side til you threw Sitka under the bus. Lol. Sitka is fuggin legit. It's not gimmicky... Expensive? Yes... But the fit, quality, and warmth-to-weight ratio is unmatched.

LOL... I'll take that back... Sitka is quality clothing, not promoting a gimmick... I'm one for quality products, just hate spending hard earned money on something I'll probably tear on a barbed wire fence... Thus cheaper clothing...

HEC seems to have been around awhile. Makes me wonder if it is legit but not heavily marketed or if it just wasn't effective? Seems in the hunting industry many products are heavily marketed but their sales are based more on marketing than effectiveness. Trendy? "All the pro hunters are using it" therefore they sell? I don't know. I just don't know anything about the HECs other than I read some of their literature and it made sense. Then I think about Dan Infalt, Fred Bear, The Hunting Public, and others who weren't/aren't driven by dollars and still kill lots of deer and big deer. Puts me back in line with your thinking, Fletch. Just buy what is cheap or on closeout. Some of it is worth the extra money though.

I appreciate having an edge but frankly, any clothing that doesn’t glow with UV brighteners and breaks up my fat old man outline works as long as I don’t get busted moving or get winded.

I’m to old to chase that camo clothing carrot.

Depending where and when you're hunting though theres more to the game than breaking up an outline. All clothing is not created equally by any means and wearing the wrong clothing in certain conditions can ruin a hunt. I hate buying the expensive clothing but the few decent pieces I have make a world of a difference. I dont buy based on camo pattern. Buy for what you intend it to accomplish such as wicking sweat away, keeping you cool, keeping you warm, dry, etc.

Now if you have a short walk to and from your hunting location and dont go out in the bitter cold then I can see how expensive clothing isn't needed.

What exactly is it that your so dependent on new camo technology that it can make-or-break your hunts?
Proper layering underneath the outer layer has always addressed warmth or cold. Outer layers don't wick away sweat.

You just proved my point that breaking up your outline is not the only name of the game. I already stated camo pattern technology is the least of my concerns. Fabrics are not the same as what we bought 20 years ago and cheap clothing is still cheap just like any other commodity out there. You dont go to the Fiat dealer expecting a Ferrari. You still hunting in leathers or something?

the colder, wetter, and more unreliable the weather becomes, the more important the quality of your hunting clothing becomes if you want to spend any length of time outside, and especially if you want to shoot a traditional bow with several layers on after sitting still for a few hours on a cold or windy day. Sitka gear is the most thoughtfully designed and best fitting hunting clothing I've ever owned for staying comfortable for extended periods on stand and shooting a bow and arrow in less than ideal weather. I can understand why this might be meaningless if you only hunt with a crossbow or firearm, hunt from a blind all the time, only hunt for two hours in a row or only hunt 6 days a year. you all can keep your chintzy Wal-Mart hunting gear. I'll spend my hard earned dough on the best I can get. Not to mention some folks go hunting in places where inadequate gear could cost you your life in an emergency or unexpected severe weather situation. there's lots of good arguments for buying quality hunting clothes.

Sorry kid.
I guess my point is lost on you based on the original post of the thread.
