Hog hunting

What land would be better to hunt for hogs come March? Superior wildlife area, Turkey Ridge wildlife area, Wellston wildlife area, Zaleski State Forest/Richland Furnace, Tar Hollow State Forest, or National Forest Ironton District? Thanks in advice.

Honestly.. Drive to Georgia or Florida. I've told people this before. You could drive to Florida, shoot a few hogs, then drive back to Ohio and be drinking beer on your couch before you cross your first hog track in any of those places. If you're dead set to cover miles of terrain to do it in Ohio I would say Tar Hollow would be your best bet.

Vinton County seems to have them. Not sure what their status is now but they had some with regularity for awhile. Might have them under control now. Don't know.

The USFWS has been very aggressive trying to remove hogs from Ohio before they really got going . They run bait stations and cameras and oncevrhey find a pocket of pigsthey move in cage traps and try to wipe em out .
. Odds of just stumbling into some is a long shot . Years ago you'd occasionally hear of a deer hunter killing one or seeing some . You don't even hear of that anymore .

It’s been about 5 years now, but the only place I’ve ever seen them was in that ironton district. I agree with trying another state if you plan to travel and invest time/money/effort.

I’ve seen pig sign while hunting turkey ridge but never laid eyes on one. I hunted there pretty hard for a couple of years. Never got one on trailcam either. Wellston is the same. I don’t know about the other areas.
