Hunting in the heat

Once you make the shot, the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to get that deer in a cooler FAST! I’d rather wait for cooler weather....usually 2-3 weeks into the season before I get out there. I used to hunt in the hot weather but as I get older, I want to enjoy every minute on stand, and sweating in 95 degree heat isn’t it.😂

No way at 95 degrees. I don't like 75 degrees, unless a serious weather front is coming or passed. Even then it's not preferred.

If I know of a deer big enough to be worth chasing, best believe I'm hunting opening weekend... doesn't matter what the weather is. Opening weekend is one of your best chances to get a shot at a mature deer if you've done your homework. I'll worry about the rest of it later. Just give me a shot.

Having lived in the south and midwest, you adjust. As long as I had my thermacell, heat never really bothered. When you did kill one, like others said that clock starts ticking to get it in the cooler full of Ice water

Difference being, we live in an area that gets cool. I’ll wait. Unless like stated about having one patterned, I ain’t going hunting to be miserable. 95* is BBQ and beer weather, or hide in the AC weather😂

Now is that the correct usage of BBQ as a noun or the screwed up Yankee meaning as a verb, which is really grilling out. 🤔

I'm not interested in hunting deer with my bow in hot weather. has been my experience that deer aren't too eager to move much when it's really hot up here in October and November, anyway. it's a long season and the action doesn't really heat up until the end of October. I've gotten to the point with my approach that I hunt sparingly in the early season, and hunting opening day is more symbolic than me actually wanting or expecting to kill something. that said, if the weather is nice and cool, I'll hunt more in October. I consider 75-80 to be too warm for productive enjoyable hunting. I'd rather be shivering.
