Well, since I didn’t have service last night this is an I knew something thread. Tyler and I went to WV yesterday and he was able to bust one of our main target bucks on public land. A cool looking 9 that has a split G2

What brought him to make a move to public ground to kill him? Just a hunch?

We only have 22 acres that is completely surrounded by public land so unless we want to sit on top of one another it is a necessity. There is now a gas line planted in clover that runs the edge of the public. We have a stand in an old overgrown pasture field that runs up to that gas line. The stand is about 80 yards from the clover. It has proven it's worth for 3 years now. We have pics of that buck feeding on red oak acorns in front of that stand. That's what he was doing when Tyler shot. I was across the hollow on the ridge letting 8 points walk. SMH
This brushy field is part of the old family farm (100 acres) that my grandmother and her siblings sold to the state in the 80s for $20,000. Still tears me up that they did that.
Here is the field with him eating acorns. The gas line is in the distance.

Nice
Congratulations Tyler
Do you have any idea of age?

Just a guess but I'm thinking 4+. There are no crops at all....lots of corn piles on private land. It takes them a few years to get any size at all. I used to say you could add 30" to a rack to get it to a comparative aged buck in Ohio. There are a lot less deer there now than before and the racks are improving so It's probably closer to 15-20" now. We taped him at 123" gross so we believe he's equivalent to a 140" buck in Ohio. I know guys that say how can you get excited about 120" deer. It's all a mindset. We see that deer in Ohio and we immediately think maybe next year. That one rattles you in WV. That's the most worked up Tyler has been in a long time.

Yes I thought he had big body
I was actually thinking maybe older 4+
Body wise without all the crops like we have up here they are never going to grow as big
