really could use some help/opinions on this !
Last Night I made a 40 yard shot on a monster 10 point, I am almost certain I weaved... I climbed down from the stand at dark and found my arrow into a tree with this pinned into it, a tiny speck of blood and that’s it! The deer looked around and just walked away following this... didn’t look injured, rattled anything... I thought I missed completely till I seen this. I went out for hours this morning looking and didn’t find a trace of blood or sign, just this tiny bit of fat and hair pinned to my arrow.
I set in the stand for a hour so far and I’m almost certain I seen this big boy up chasing a doe already this morning but I need more confirmation that this hit was just a hair cut! Please help fellow hunters!!!
Ps: I should mention, the speck of blood was on the ground, no blood on the arrow, just the tiniest bit of fat and specks of blood on the broad head.

that’s what I was thinking too, hopefully just skinned it. I spent all night up worrying about it. I’ve never had something like this where I took out just fur and fat. Crazy.

I am guessing you just gave him a haircut. Looking at that makes me think top of back/neck. Really depends on where you found the arrow though. Was it somewhere that would make you think a lower hit or was it higher in the tree to make you think higher hit?

Welcome, BTW. Lol, I just realized you are a new member. Glad you found us and an answer. I think that deer is perfectly fine. Probably doesn't even realize what happened unless you celebrated after the shot.

the arrow was actually lower in the tree.... that’s why I’m really thinking brisket... that thick hair in the front of the chest. I honest to god thought I missed, he didn’t jump run or anything... just looked around like what the heck and walked away lol I was in the stand this morning after looking and I am 99.9 percent sure I seen him trotting threw the field ... walking just a tiny bit off, like he was sore, not hobbled or anything lol like his haircut hurt a little bit this time 🤣 Thank you guys though, all of you... I’m sure you all know the feeling of helplessness after a shot like that, even though I was 99.9 percent sure I only grazed him it always feels better to hear others say the same thing lol I’m just happy it left behind some evidence (fat/hair) so I knew for sure it wasn’t a direct hit!
