We have just had a ROW completed on our property. Against our wishes they covered it with a straw mat that is pinned in place with 6” steel pins. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? I sent our pipeline rep a message demanding they remove it but I expect a BS reply about regulations.
How can you work the ground that is covered in netting and has spikes every 3 feet?

How big of an area are you talking? Might just be easier to go pull them out and plant what you want. Get it done and move on with life. Some things ain't worth the fight. Depending on your location, I might be able to even come help next weekend.

Yes, it could very well be part of their NPDES permit. As someone who bought RW for 10 years, I always worked with landowners to reclaim as close to their desires as was within reason. If they used the netting on sloped ground, that's best in the long run as it'll be the prevention for erosion. Once some regrowth is established to help hold the mat, you can remove the spikes.

About 1500’ long and 30’ wide. It looks like they put spikes every 3’. I appreciate the offer of help but I would hate to kill someone else’s back for something like this.
