Hi All, I have never hunted before and I am looking for another bowhunter who has some experience to join me on my first hunt next weekend (12/29). Sounds fun right? I do not know anyone who has experience that is interested in going so I thought I would try my luck on a forum to see if anyone wants to help. I don't have a ton of money but I have a little cash so I can compensate anyone that joins me for their gas, time, and help. I think I need someone who can advise me on process, location, field dressing, etc. I am in southwest Ohio (Hamilton County). I could travel but I don't know if I could do more than a few hours. I don't care weather I hunt on public or private land as long as we have the proper permission. I want to do thing the right way and although I feel confidant that I could go out on my own on public land I worry that I'd be wasting a lot of time and I may not transport the deer properly because I've never done this before.
About me: I am 38 and have an office job to pay the bills and support my 2 kids. I am in decent shape so I can pull my own weight (and the deer's). I bought a PSE Ferocity 70 lb. bow about 2 months back and have shot it at my local range and outdoors from various angles at around 20 yards since then. I feel that I'm accurate on targets (3d as well). I have taken the online Bowhunter-Ed class for Ohio and I have everything I think I need although I'm sure an experienced hunter could tell me otherwise. I have a new Big Game 1.5 ladder stand that I can use but an also get a hanging stand if needed. I don't have a truck but I have an large SUV and can transport. I appreciate any advice or help someone can offer as I am really looking forward to this.
